  • Patent number: 5622663
Abstract: This invention provides a continuous profile comprising a crosslinked foam matrix and a continuous filament embedded within the matrix. The profile is prepared by 1) extruding in an upward direction a composite consisting essentially of a foamable and crosslinkable composition containing a continuous filament, followed by 2) crosslinking and foaming the composition while the composition is in a substantially non-flowing state and supported by the filament.

  • Patent number: 5547000
Abstract: Colored silicone sealant are made in an apparatus by (i) programming a central computer to control the operation of a mixing device and a plurality of dosing units actuated by a ball screw table/servo-motor mechanism; (ii) supplying sealant base and pigments to the dosing units; (iii) activating the ball screw table/servo-motor mechanism in response to signals from the computer; (iv) metering predetermined volumes of sealant base and pigments at a predetermined rate; (v) conveying metered portions to the mixing device; and (vi) dispensing colored silicone sealant into a cartridge.

  • Patent number: 5301835
Abstract: An adapter for use in an extrusion device can use sausage skin packaged sealant-type extrudable materials. A sausage skin package is inserted into the adapter which is, in turn, inserted into an extrusion device, such as a caulking gun. The adapter has four pieces, a cylindrical tube, a plunger, a removable nozzle base, and a removable nozzle tip. The adapter can be designed to be reversible where a sausage is inserted between the plunger and the nozzle base, force is applied to the plunger by the extrusion device forcing the sealant-type material from the sausage package and after the material is expelled, a wad of package skin is removed, a new sausage package is inserted into the open end of the tube and the removable nozzle base is attached to the tube and the dispensing operation can be continued.

  • Patent number: 4799377
Abstract: An apparatus for testing for leaks in individual cavities, such as pin sockets, in a component, such as an electrical connector, in which the pin sockets or other cavities to be tested for leaks extend into the component from a surface of the component is provided. The apparatus of this invention includes resilient surface for sealingly engaging the surface of the component which surrounds the sockets or other cavities. There is provided through the resilient surface a plurality of deformation resistant apertures, which may be, for example, hollow metal tubes, such as hypodermic needles protruding through the resilient surface. The apertures are geometrically arranged to correspond to the arrangement of the cavities so that one aperture is in alignment with the opening of each cavity. Each of the apertures is connected by a conduit to a pressure sensor, which is capable of measuring the rate of pressure decay or leakage out of the test section or cavity.

  • Patent number: 4695185
Abstract: This disclosure relates to an applicator for placing a sealant into a groove, and comprises a member having a lower side, the lower side being adapted to extend into the groove. The lower side has an arcuate shape and a sealant passage extends through the member and includes an outlet opening in the lower side. The arcuate lower side is adapted to extend partially into said groove and engage the upper corners of the groove during use. The applicator further includes a limiter attached to the member, the limiter extending laterally of the lower side and over the upper corners of the groove.
