  • Patent number: 11255206
Abstract: A ceramic brush seal for a gas turbine engine, and a process for manufacturing the seal are provided. In one example, the process includes deinfiltrating an edge of a plurality of plies having a preimpregnated configuration. The edge is defined by a plurality of ceramic fibers extending away from a portion edge of a matrix infiltrated portion of each of the plies. In another example, the process includes masking an edge of a plurality of plies, the edge being defined by a plurality of ceramic fibers extending away from a portion edge of a body portion of each of the plies, and infiltrating the body portion of the plurality of plies with a ceramic matrix slurry. The plies are stacked, formed into a green body and then fired to form the component. The plies may include oxide/oxide woven ceramic fiber plies.

  • Publication number: 20200013269
Abstract: A method of steps and a system of components which detects and responds to smoke, CO, and/or fire hazard emergency alarm signals (loud audio noise and/or bright strobe lights) and then provides a shut-off of electrical power and/or fuel gas (e.g. natural gas or propane) as well as other types of power and energy for safety's sake. The present invention is improved over the current product offerings and state of the art through increasing the reliability of alarm signal detection by utilizing redundancy and providing primary and backup sensor functionality for both of the possible commonly intended alarm signal outputs instead of monitoring for just one. This invention also includes a method of steps and a system which further improves reliability by adding additional redundancy and backups through detecting and responding to the unobvious but real by-product alarm signals which are: 1. the vibration of the audible alarm mechanism and 2. the electricity flowing in or to the activated alarm.

  • Patent number: 9244627
Abstract: An erasure system and method for sorting, tracking, and erasing a plurality of data storage devices using enterprise hardware and software designed for data storage. The erasure system may include a server, drive arrays having receptacles for communicably coupling with the data storage devices, and a drive array controller configured for communicably coupling the server with the drive arrays. The server may receive specification information regarding each of the drive arrays and each of the data storage devices in the receptacles of the drive arrays for erasure and logging purposes. Then the server may overwrite each of the data storage devices according to the DoD 5220.22-M standard, thereby erasing the data storage devices. The server may also create log files corresponding to each of the data storage devices, including information like time, date, and if the erasure of the data storage device is complete or has failed.

  • Patent number: 8081649
Abstract: Low-cost intelligent control and communication devices are arranged to communicate with one another over one or more shared physical media, such as a powerline or a radio frequency band. No network controller is needed, because any device can act as a master, slave, or repeater. Adding more devices makes the system more robust, by virtue of a simple protocol for communication retransmissions and retries.

  • Patent number: 7883565
Abstract: An economically efficient agricultural pellet of enhanced structural integrity comprises up to about 15% by weight of non-crystalline silica fibers blended with one or more other nutrient substances, such as calcium silicate and/or magnesium sulfite, such that the silica fibers to form an interlaced matrix dispersed throughout the body of the pellet. Fragmentation agent(s) and/or soil amendments may also be included. The silica fiber matrix provides both structural reinforcement and a source of bio-available silicon. In embodiments including calcium silicate, additional structural integrity is gained through pozzolonic bonding.
