Abstract: An insulated stemmed drinking vessel, e.g., a wine glass, and method of making the same is disclosed. The vessel includes a hollow bowl shaped member and a base member. The bowl shaped member has a sidewall having a thin upper rim. The bowl shaped member is disposed within a stemmed base member. The stemmed base member has an arcuate sidewall terminating in an upper edge which is welded to a peripheral portion of the hollow bowl shaped member substantially below the upper rim of the bowl shaped member to create a double walled insulating air space therebetween. A vibration dampening member may be disposed in that insulating air space. The dampening member may be decorative. The base member may be hollow and may also include a decorative member therein.
