  • Patent number: 7215294
Abstract: An antenna which includes a monoconical antenna feed assembly, where the feed assembly has a base and an apex, a ground plane adjacent to the monoconical antenna feed assembly near the apex, and an antenna reflector coupled to the ground plane, where the antenna reflector at least partially surrounds the monoconical antenna feed assembly. The monoconical feed point is used to drive a reflector antenna. The broadband characteristics of the monoconical image vertical antenna (typical ground plane geometry) are used as the feed point for the reflector to give modest amount of gain while maintaining larger than previously developed bandwidths.
    Type: Grant

  • Patent number: 6888421
Abstract: A power attenuator with at least one coupling port. The coupling port may be provided to monitor input power levels, out put power levels, or other operations of the power attenuator. One or more coupling ports may be located on the power attenuator input part to monitor input power levels and/or on the power attenuator output part to monitor output power levels. The coupling port(s) may be coupled to the main RF path by resistive coupling or reactive coupling. The coupling port(s) allow monitoring of the RF signal passing through the power attenuator to detect for incipient failures.

  • Publication number: 20040145424
Abstract: A circulator includes: a conductive launching disk; at least two ferrite disks sandwiched about the launching disk; and at least two electromagnets (e.g., flat coils) sandwiched about the ferrite disks. Such a circulator can be used with a controller to selectively: control current flow through the electromagnets so as to induce through the launching disk a first magnetic field (resulting in a first direction of rotation) or a second magnetic field, substantially opposite to the first field (resulting in a second direction of rotation opposite the first rotation direction); and/or substantially prevent current flow through the electromagnets (substantially preventing rotation). A corresponding switching system includes: at least a first device, a second device and a third device; a selectively reversible circulator having at least three ports connected to the first, second and third devices, respectively; and a controller operable to change the rotation exhibited by the circulator.

  • Patent number: 6091971
Abstract: A cost effective and convenient system for converting a wireless phone that radiates stray RF energy outside of the intended RF transmission path into a wireless phone that confines the RF energy to a shielded RF transmission path. This system will be referred to as "plumbing" a phone. In the plumbing system, a shielded RF adapter contacts the RF output from the printed circuit board (the RF clip in certain embodiments) of the wireless phone.
