Abstract: A display apparatus and a method for controlling the same are provided. The method includes displaying a content guide User Interface (UI) including a plurality of content bars classified by category, extending, in response to a content bar being selected from among the plurality of content bars, the selected content bar, and displaying at least one content included in a category corresponding to the selected content bar in a content area generated by the extended content bar. Accordingly, the display apparatus provides a user with content information intuitionally, thereby enabling the user to access to a desired content more easily.
