  • Publication number: 20080240146
Abstract: A system and method for performing medium access control in a system for wireless communication of uncompressed video is disclosed. In one aspect, the system includes one or more high rate channels overlapping with a primary low rate channel and one or more secondary low rate channels. In another aspect, the system includes a communication device configured to communicate a bandwidth request message identifying bandwidth required for communication with another communication device. The bandwidth request message contains information allowing a device coordinator to determine a reserved time slot for communication on a secondary low rate channel when communication is determined not to be possible on a high rate channel. Transmission on the secondary low rate channel is time division duplexed with a high rate channel, where transmission at any one time can take place on either the high rate or the secondary low rate channel.

  • Publication number: 20080232287
Abstract: A power saving (PS) scheduling process is provided for scheduling uplink and downlink frame transmissions between a PS transmitter and at least one PS receiver using PSAD sequences in a wireless communication system. The power saving scheduling process involves determining a power saving schedule of transmission opportunities for communication between a PS transmitter and at least one PS receiver over a shared channel, wherein the schedule includes corresponding durations for uplink transmissions of frames from each PS receiver to the PS transmitter. A Power Saving Aggregation Descriptor (PSAD) frame containing said schedule is constructed. A PSAD sequence is initiated by transmitting the PSAD from the PS transmitter to each PS receiver.

  • Publication number: 20080186890
Abstract: A power saving process for wireless communications is provided, wherein a receiving station examines the header of each incoming frame and stops decoding data symbols of the frame, upon determining that the incoming frame is not intended for that receiving station. In one implementation, the receiving station stops receiving and decoding data symbols of the frame by entering a power saving mode. This conserves power at the receiving station.

  • Patent number: 7409022
Abstract: A method synchronizes a transmit clock of a transmitter with a receive clock of a receiver in a wireless communications network. Times t1, t2, t3, and t4 of the transmit clock corresponding times t1?, t2?, t3?, and t4? of the receive clock. A synchronization message is generated in a media access control layer of the transmitter at the time t1. The time t1 is inserted in the synchronization message when the synchronization message is passed from the media access layer to a physical layer at the time t2. Then, the synchronization message including the time t1 is broadcast. The synchronization message is received from the physical layer in the receiver, at which time the time t3? is obtained. The received message is passed to a media access control layer of the receiver, and the receive clock is adjusted by adding the time t1??t3? to the current time of the receive clock.

  • Publication number: 20080175198
Abstract: Wireless communication between a first transmitter and a first receiver for a new transmission is established on the same wireless data channel used for ongoing transmission between a second transmitter and a second receiver. This is achieved by determining if the second receiver can receive signals from the first transmitter, and determining if the first receiver can receive signals from the second transmitter. If the second receiver cannot receive signals from the first transmitter, and the first receiver cannot receive signals from the second transmitter, then a new transmission is performed from the first transmitter to the first receiver by spatial reuse of the wireless data channel at least partially concurrently with said ongoing transmission on said data channel.
