  • Patent number: 8790869
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a method of identifying a tumor biomarker. In one example, a tumor biomarker is identified by obtaining a peripheral biological fluid sample from a subject with a tumor as well as a tumor sample and an adjacent non-tumor sample from such subject. A protein expression profile is detected in the peripheral biological fluid sample, tumor sample and adjacent non-tumor sample. The protein expression profiles of the peripheral biological fluid sample, tumor sample and adjacent non-tumor sample are then compared, wherein an increase in expression of a specific protein in the tumor sample and peripheral biological fluid sample but not in the adjacent non-tumor sample indicates that the specific protein is a biomarker of the tumor. Also disclosed herein is a gene profiling signature that can be used to diagnosis a subject with renal cell carcinoma (RCC) or to identify agents with therapeutic potential to treat RCC. Thus, methods of diagnosing a subject with RCC are disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20140196422
Abstract: A wavy composite core is provided. The wavy composite core includes wavy filtering layers and flat filtering layers alternately stacked and rolled to form a barrel shape for filtering suspended pollutants. Each wavy filtering layer has a plurality of peak portions extending axially, a plurality of axial sealing adhesive layers formed on the peak portions by coating sealing adhesive on the peak portions so as to bond the wavy filtering layer to the flat filtering layers adjacent to the wavy filtering layer, and two end sealing adhesive layers formed on opposite sides by coating sealing adhesive on the wavy filtering layer to bond the wavy filtering layer to the adjacent flat filtering layers.

  • Publication number: 20070266042
Abstract: A method for report retrieval and presentation. An agent receives and stores subscription and time setting for subscribed reports provided by a reporting system from a client computer. The agent automatically requests for and then receives a report of a subscribed report at the time indicated by the time setting. When the client computer completes boot up, a viewer directly presents the report on the desktop of the client computer without need for triggering by user action or authentication.

  • Publication number: 20070168561
Abstract: Systems and methods for e-mail management. An event indicating that an image is stored in a reserved section of storage is received. The stored image is acquired from the reserved section of storage. The acquired image is compressed. The compressed image carried by an e-mail is transmitted to a destination.

  • Patent number: 7165030
Abstract: A method for concatenative speech synthesis includes a processing stage that selects segments based on their symbolic labeling in an efficient graph-based search, which uses a finite-state transducer formalism. This graph-based search uses a representation of concatenation constraints and costs that does not necessarily grow with the size of the source corpus thereby limiting the increase in computation required for the search as the size of the source corpus increases. In one application of this method, multiple alternative segment sequences are generated and a best segment sequence is then be selected using characteristics that depend on specific signal characteristics of the segments.

  • Publication number: 20050136445
Abstract: The present invention relates to recombinant DNA vector, recombinant bio-luminescent bacterium and method for detecting bio-inhibitory substances by using foregoing bacterium. Since bio-inhibitory substances can inhibit or stimulate the luminescence of recombinant bio-luminescent bacterium, the invention can be applied in detection of the presence and amount of toxic substances in waste water.
