Patent number: 4892203Abstract: A hoist support and method for fabricating the support are disclosed in which a swivel yoke is provided which has a through opening and is affixed to an overhead frame. A swivel body is affixed to the hoist below the yoke and has a swivel head with a swivelable surface positioned in supporting engagement within the opening in the yoke. The swivel head both retains the hoist suspended from the overhead frame and permits vertical and horizontal swiveling movement of the hoist relative to the frame. The swivel yoke may include bearing inserts supporting the swivel head within the opening in the yoke and providing a replaceable bearing surface.Type: GrantFiled: October 5, 1988Date of Patent: January 9, 1990Assignee: Harnischfeger CorporationInventor: Ronnie A. Patent number: 4821384Abstract: A controlled deflection press roll structure for coacting with an opposed member to form a press nip including a rotatable roll shell and a stationary support shaft extending therethrough with a plurality of first hydraulically supported shoes extending axially along the shell supported on the shaft, a second shoe opposite the nip for applying a nip unloading force, third shoes lateral of the nip located at the end of the nip for stabilizing the shell and axially facing pads for the end shoes supporting the shoes on the shaft.Type: GrantFiled: November 5, 1987Date of Patent: April 18, 1989Assignee: Beloit CorporationInventor: Ronnie A. Patent number: 4671546Abstract: A sealing device is disclosed for sealing a securing device (17) which extends through adjacent flanges (7,9) of a shell (1) and of a head (3) of a fluid container. The sealing device includes an O-ring seal (23) which slidingly engages the securing device (17) for sealing the securing device relative to the flange (9) of the head. A carrier member (25) through which the securing device extends is urged towards the flange (9) of the head such that the O-ring seal (23) is urged into sealing engagement between the securing device (17) and the flange (9) of the head. The carrier member (25) defines a conical recess (35) for reception therein of the O-ring seal (23) such that when the carrier member (25) is urged towards the flange (9) of the head, the O-ring seal (23) is distorted by reaction between the carrier member (25), the securing device (17) and the flange (9) of the head so the securing device (17) and the flange (9) of the head are sealed relative to each other.Type: GrantFiled: April 7, 1986Date of Patent: June 9, 1987Assignee: Beloit Corp.Inventor: Ronnie A. Patent number: 4583567Abstract: A valve is proposed for regulating and balancing the pressure in two fluid pressure systems. The valve comprises a balance piston and a regulating piston. The balance piston is acted on by the pressures in each of the two systems and the regulating piston is acted on by a regulating pressure and by the pressure in one of the systems. The balance and regulating pistons each control a respective connection to a relief line for each of the two systems. Thus, the regulating pressure determines the pressure in one system, while the balance piston determines the pressure in the other system relative to the pressure regulated by the regulating piston. The regulating pressure may be either pneumatic or hydraulic pressure. Shock absorber means is provided to resist movement of the balance piston in response to rapid pressure fluctuations. The shock absorber means comprises a plunger and a bore adapted to receive the plunger.Type: GrantFiled: October 27, 1983Date of Patent: April 22, 1986Assignee: Beloit CorporationInventor: Ronnie A. Patent number: 4561379Abstract: Apparatus for supporting a coater blade as used in paper forming. The apparatus comprising a blade support, clamping means for locating the blade against the blade support, and a profile support engaging the coater blade. The profile support is an elongate plate-like member which is clamped adjacent one edge and whose other edge engages the coater blade. Adjustment means is provided to adjust the position of engagement of the profile support with the blade in a direction tangential to the plane of the coater blade. The adjustment being provided by a row of screws whose heads co-operate with the profile support and which engage threadingly with a mounting means for the profile support. Spring means acts in opposition to the screws.Type: GrantFiled: March 12, 1984Date of Patent: December 31, 1985Assignee: Beloit CorporationInventor: Ronnie A. Arav

Patent number: 4543977Abstract: A balance valve for maintaining two fluid pressure systems at a predetermined pressure relative to one another. The valve comprises a piston slidably received within a bore and subjected on opposite ends to the pressure in the two systems. Each of the two systems is provided with a relief line whose communication with the associated system is controlled by movement of the piston such that any imbalance of forces acting on the piston causes the appropriate relief line to be opened to balance out the forces. The ports controlled by the piston and communicating with the relief lines are triangular in shape. In one embodiment a respective spring acts on each end of the piston to determine the relative pressure levels in the two systems. In another embodiment means is provided to resist movement of the piston in response to rapid pressure fluctuations.Type: GrantFiled: October 27, 1983Date of Patent: October 1, 1985Assignee: Beloit CorporationInventor: Ronnie A. Patent number: 4544449Abstract: Apparatus for de-watering fibrous suspensions, which apparatus comprises a suction housing and a cover. The cover comprises two or more plank members releasably secured to the suction housing and each having secured thereto a number of foil strips. Each foil strip is secured to the plank member by way of a plurality of spaced apart pins which are carried by and project from the plank member. A channel is defined between the foil strips and the plank member which serves for the removal of water extracted from the suspension. A weir may be disposed in this channel to control the flow of water over the foils and air may be introduced into the channel by way of drillings to assist in control of the water and prevent plugging.Type: GrantFiled: October 11, 1983Date of Patent: October 1, 1985Assignee: Beloit Walmsley LimitedInventor: Ronnie A. Patent number: 4530371Abstract: A control system for controlling the pressure and pressure balance in two separate fluid pressure circuits. A valve being employed which comprises a balance piston and a regulating piston. Each of the pistons controls a connection of the first and second fluid pressure circuits to a respective relief line. Fluid pressure is applied to the regulating piston to regulate the pressure in one circuit and the balance piston regulates the pressure in the other circuits in relation to that regulated by the regulating piston. A three position switch and two air pressure regulators or a three position switch, two potentiometers and a servo control valve control the pressure applied to the regulating piston to control the pressures required in the first and second circuits for the desired modes of operation. A further balance valve may be disposed between the first and second circuits.Type: GrantFiled: October 27, 1983Date of Patent: July 23, 1985Assignee: Beloit CorporationInventor: Ronnie A. Arav
