  • Patent number: 7131798
Abstract: A tool for chip removing machining includes a drill and a countersink mounted to the drill. The drill includes a protruding land and at least one chip flute. The countersink includes a body, a plurality of inserts received in respective insert pockets formed in the body, and a plurality of clamps for fixing respective inserts in the pockets. In order to be able to adjust the location of the inserts, pins are arranged for displacement relative to the body. The pins are slidably disposed in holes formed in the body, and adjustment screws are mounted in the body and arranged to displace a respective pin and the associated clamp and cutting insert in response to movement of the adjustment screw.

  • Patent number: 6595729
Abstract: A tool for chip removing machining includes a drill and a countersinker mounted thereto. The countersinker comprises two half-sections that are clamped to each other and to the drill. The drill includes helical flutes defining respective chip-removal channels. Each half-section includes a connection portion received in a respective flute of the drill. The connection portion has a shape generally corresponding to that of the chip flute, so as to be form-locked within the flute. Each connection portion includes a convex surface facing the flute, and a concave surface facing away from the convex portion. The convex surface can be pressed against the concave wall of the flute, whereby the concave surface forms a section of a wall of a respective chip-removal channel.

  • Patent number: 6183688
Abstract: A cutting member is manufactured by forming a mixture of cemented carbide and a bearer, and heating the mixture. Then, the heated mixture is injected into a mold for forming a body having a cutting edge in a front surface thereof, a flushing channel extending therethrough, and a rearwardly open blind hold formed centrally in a rear surface thereof. The body is then removed from the mold.

  • Patent number: 5947660
Abstract: A tool for cutting machining comprises a tool body, a cutting member and a fastener for fastening the cutting member to the tool body. The tool body has a shank, a central bore formed therethrough, and a front surface having grooves formed therein. The cutting member includes a cemented carbide body having a cutting edge formed in a front surface thereof, and a rear supporting surface. The supporting surface includes ridges received in the grooves, and a rearwardly open blind hole. The fastener extends through the central bore and is threadedly connected to the blind threadedly connected to the blind bore for pulling the cutting member against the tool body.

  • Patent number: 5863162
Abstract: A metal cutting tool includes a tool body rotatable about a center axis and a tool tip mounted on a front surface of said tool body for performing a cutting operation. A draw bar mounted axially in the tool body draws a rear surface of the tool tip toward the front surface of the tool body. Those front and rear surfaces include radial projections and radial recesses receiving the projections. The projections are wedgingly connected in the recesses to transmit all axial and rotational forces between the tool body and tool tip.

  • Patent number: 5478176
Abstract: A metal cutting drill includes a shank having cutting edges at a front end and helical flutes extending rearwardly from respective cutting edges for conductive cutting fluid away from the front end. The cross-sectional area of each flute, as seen in a plane oriented non-perpendicular to an axis of rotation of the drill, becomes progressively smaller in a rearward direction. A helix angle defined by each flute becomes progressively smaller in the rearward direction. An angle formed between the plane and another plane oriented perpendicular to the axis equals the helix angle at the location where the planes intersect each other and the axis.

  • Patent number: 4045014
Abstract: A sheet film magazine for an X-ray film exchanger includes a housing with a chamber, a drum rotatably mounted in the chamber with a portion urged toward the cylindrical surface with the teeth resting thereon. A leading end of each sheet inserted into the chamber is guided between the cylindrical surface and the belt. Thd drum and belt are driven in a stepwise manner with the distance of movement of the surface of the drum and the belt being equal to the distance between adjacent teeth on the belt.
