  • Publication number: 20240131152
Abstract: This invention describes ways of obtaining nano-particulated adjuvants formed by different synthetic variants of GM3 ganglioside. Depending on the fine structure of the fatty acid in the ceramide of the synthetic GM3, said adjuvants are able to stimulate specifically and in a specialized way the humoral or cellular immune response against accompanying antigens. Particularly, this invention provides immunogenic vaccine compositions that comprise peptides, polypeptides or proteins and the aforementioned nanoparticles, which are formed through the dispersion of hydrophobic proteins of the outer membrane complex (OMC) of Neisseria meningitidis in solutions containing fully synthetic variants of the GM3 ganglioside.

  • Publication number: 20180266130
Abstract: The invention relates to a protective device for pools, wells or reservoirs characterized in that it comprises a plastic mesh able to float on the water, configured to cover at least the aquatic surface of the pool, well or reservoir, said mesh being joined to a flexible frame along at least one part of the perimeter thereof by joining means, said frame heavy enough so that when the mesh is in an extended condition over the aquatic surface of the pool, well or reservoir, the frame maintains said mesh extended. This protective device, once extended over the aquatic surface of the pool, well or reservoir, floats on said aquatic surface so that insects can rest on the same without drowning, and in turn said device is not moved by external climatic elements which would prevent proper protection of the aquatic surface by partially or entirely uncovering the same.

  • Patent number: 9228357
Abstract: A method and apparatus for a roof that takes the pressure from wind in extreme weather events off of the eaves and roof of a building thereby allowing the roof to stay intact and increasing the likelihood that the building will not collapse under the influence of the weather event. The apparatus of the instant invention allows the airflow from the wind to continue on its natural path.

  • Patent number: 5994092
Abstract: There is disclosed the use of O-.beta.-D-galactopyranosyl-D-xyloses, particularly 2-O-.beta.-D-galactopyranosyl-D-xylose and 3-O-.beta.-D-galactopyranosyl-D-xylose, for the preparation of compositions and solutions intended to the evaluation of the intestinal lactase, which present an affinity to the substantially enchanced lactase. There is also disclosed a process for producing O-.beta.-D-galactopyranosyl-D-xyloses, comprising: reacting a D-xylose and a substrate of .beta.-D-galactopyranosyl in the presence of an enzyme .beta.-galactosidase, in an aqueous medium buffered to a pH comprised between 5.0 and 9.0 and at temperature between 4 and 37.degree. C., deactivating the .beta.-galactosidase by heating at 100.degree. C. when reaching the maximum yield of formation of disaccharides detected through thin layer chromatography, and isolating the formed disaccharides through filtration in a packed column with a thinner selected between water and water/alcohol.
