    Abstract: A method is disclosed for the manufacture of a toothpaste containing an ingredient mixture of a calcium carbonate abrasive, a thickener and an aqueous humectant wherein there is sequentially added the calcium carbonate abrasive dispersed in a high solids aqueous dispersion containing 50 to 80% by weight calcium carbonate to the aqueous humectant and thereafter adding the binder and binding the ingredients before any further ingredients are added to the mixture to produce the toothpaste.
