  • Publication number: 20240424561
Abstract: Various embodiments relate to additive manufacturing providing compositional control of a material build in three-dimensions. Composition of a material can be controlled in a plane in a spatial manner by directly irradiating the material with an energy beam using a combination of energy scan techniques to volatilize elements of the material away from the material. Such processing can include a change between two distinct scan strategies to produce a spatial variation in composition of the material. Additional systems and methods are disclosed.

  • Patent number: 8218740
Abstract: A signaling node within a telecommunications network automatically detects that a signaling link is fluctuating in and out of service and provides hysteresis to the fluctuating signaling link. The signaling node includes a link controller that monitors the state(s) of the signaling link over a time period and a link blocking module that blocks the signaling link from carrying SS7 traffic when the signaling link fluctuates between a failed state and a stable state over the time period.

  • Patent number: 8130933
Abstract: A signal transfer point (STP) within a first telecommunications network enables recovery from a linkset failure between the first telecommunications network and a second telecommunications network by deactivating one or more affected signaling routes between the first and second telecommunications networks that include the failed linkset. The STP includes a linkset controller for monitoring the current state of the linkset coupled between the STP and an additional STP within the second telecommunications network. The STP further includes an input interface for receiving a deactivate common channel signaling (CCS) route command from a user when the current state of the linkset indicates failure of the linkset, and a signaling route control module that changes the route status for the affected signaling routes to “prohibited” to prevent SS7 traffic associated with the affected signaling routes from being sent over the linkset.

  • Patent number: 7817789
Abstract: A system, method, and computer readable medium for mass call defense in a communications network, comprises detecting a mass call event, detecting a resource exhaust event related to the mass call event, where the resource exhaust event is based upon a release message indicating a call connection attempt in excess of a threshold, and releasing, upon detecting the resource exhaust event, subsequent call connection attempts to a called telephone number.

  • Patent number: 7130397
Abstract: Apparatus, and an associated method, for detecting and facilitating amelioration of mass call event in a telephonic network. A detector monitors call attempts to form call connections during operation of the telephonic network. When more than a selected level of call attempts are made to a particular one, or more than one, called station within a selected period, a mass call event is considered to have occurred and detection thereof is made. A notifier initiates notification of other network elements in the telephonic network, and the rate at which call connections are permitted with the called stations is limited during the duration of the mass call event.

  • Publication number: 20050283219
Abstract: Disposable biomedical pads include a conductive outer layer with an adhesive conductive protected layer on a major portion of the outer layer, with a double-sided release layer over the protected layer. Two pads are folded against each other, with the edges sealed to protect the gel layer from the environment. In use, the release layer is discarded, the gel layer placed against the skin, and in the case of defibrillation pads, the paddles are applied directly to the outer conductive layer. The outer layer serves as the packaging layer as well as the dispersive electrode.

  • Publication number: 20030215082
Abstract: A call treatment service implementation in a telecommunications network without triggering. Upon intercepting an incoming signaling message received at an STP on a selected linkset, a database provided with the STP is queried based on subscriber number information in the incoming message. Service logic at STP is operable to provide call treatment, including termination, based on the results obtained from the database.

  • Publication number: 20030061234
Abstract: The present invention provides an apparatus, system and method for providing location register routing in a mobile telecommunication network. A mobile switching center enabled IS-41 query message requesting information related to a specific mobile unit is routed to a signaling transfer point with location register routing capabilities for routing to a remote database containing the requested information. The signaling transfer point validates the query message for location register routing and forwards the query message for processing to a location register routing application where a mobile identification number or a mobile directory number is extracted from the query message. The application uses the mobile identification number or mobile directory number to perform an address translation in a network address database which contains the remote database network address. The translated remote database network address is subsequently incorporated in the query message for network routing to the remote database.
