  • Publication number: 20240044779
Abstract: Manufactures and methods implement wear components containing a subsurface underlying incipient failure indicator, machinery parts including at least one wear component containing a subsurface underlying incipient failure indicator, and mechanical systems including at least one machinery part including at least one wear component containing a subsurface underlying incipient failure indicator. An elastomeric seal has one or more failure indicators including a spectrally distinguishable element and/or molecule from operating-native constituent matter of a mechanical system underlying at one or more subsurface distances, including at least one subsurface distance within an incipient failure region. Abrasive wear of an elastomeric seals can expose subsurface strata having failure indicators embedded therein, each exposure causing a spectrally distinguishable element and/or molecule to mingle with lubricant of the mechanical system.

  • Patent number: 9775629
Abstract: Surgical tools that increase surgical accuracy for orthopedic procedures involving long bone osteotomy with or without supplementation with allograft or autograft. Two clamps on the operative side are rigidly interconnected to one another with an adjustable rod that is locked into place, preserving length and rotation of the bone. A graft preparation device is used on the operative table. It enables alignment of the graft to preserve the desired mechanical and anatomic axes and to provide rigid fixation of the graft for cutting. Adjustable jigs ensure exact cuts.

  • Patent number: 9089432
Abstract: The invention discloses a surgical technique and apparatus for minimally invasive replacement of a fractured femoral head in hip arthroscopy. The fractured femoral head is first removed from the patient, and an incision made on the patient on a lateral aspect of the operative thigh. A hole is then drilled into the cortex of the operative femur of the patient through the incision. The femoral neck and femoral canal of the operative femur are reamed by inserting a reamer through the drilled hole. A hip prosthesis is then inserted into the wound and injected with molding. The hip prosthesis includes a femoral component having a distal end and a proximal end, the distal end inserted and anchored in the reamed femoral canal, and a femoral head component with smooth surface. The femoral head component contains a deflated balloon that, when inflated with molding, is similar to a neo-femoral head.

  • Publication number: 20140047827
Abstract: Generally, example systems and methods for measuring aeration level of a liquid may involve measuring the pressure at two points in the liquid reservoir. The aeration level of the liquid in the liquid reservoir may be calculated based on the pressure differential between the two points in the liquid reservoir. Optionally, the aeration level of the liquid may be compared to a threshold value of the liquid aeration level, and a machine action may be commanded if the aeration level exceeds the threshold value. Example machine actions may include warning the operator. In addition, data relating to the level of aeration of the liquid may be stored, along with other machine parameters, and the data correlated for analysis and machine diagnostics.

  • Patent number: 4713554
Abstract: An extended range regulated power supply which provides a constant output despite extreme variations in line potential, which in the present embodiment may exceed 50%. The power supply maintains high efficiency by operating with a first unregulated supply voltage just above the minimum voltage required by the linear regulator to maintain the desired output voltage. Upon severe low line or drop-out conditions, a second unregulated voltage supply is connected to the input of the linear regulators to maintain constant output voltage. Both of the unregulated potentials are derived from a transformer wherein the second unregulated source will be at least the voltage necessary for the regulators to maintain the desired output voltage under the maximum line drop-out voltage.

  • Patent number: 4553198
Abstract: A pulse width modulated power converter having a single time multiplexed symmetry correction circuit operative to vary the pulse width of output drive pulses applied to an output transformer. As a result, the average current and thus the volt second product seen by each half of the transformer primary winding will be equal under steady state conditions. The transformer drive remains balanced over the entire dynamic range to prevent unwanted saturation of the transformer core.
