A first quantity of fluid is transferred from the fluid receptacle to the reservoir of the replaceable fluid container so as to mix the first quantity of fluid from the fluid receptacle with the volume of fluid in the reservoir of the replaceable fluid container A second quantity of fluid is transferred from the reservoir back to the fluid receptacle.
