  • Patent number: 5896258
Abstract: A circuit recloser that limits current through a power line when a fault condition occurs. The recloser includes a circuit interrupter that is switchable between a closed state, in which current is permitted to flow through the power line, and an open state, in which the current is interrupted. The interrupter switches to its open state in response to a fault condition, such as a current surge. The recloser also has a movable member that is operatively coupled to the interrupter for resetting the interrupter to the closed state from the open state when the movable member is moved. The movable member is configured for being remotely movable to close the interrupter. Preferably the recloser includes an electric drive to remotely move the movable member from a remote station, and a projection extends from the movable member to enable manual movement thereof. The movable member includes a shaft which the electric drive rotates by turning a slotted hub coaxially about the shaft.

  • Patent number: 5880738
Abstract: A method for computing the output values of a first series of input points, given the output values of a second series of input points is disclosed. The method comprises, for each input point of the first series forming a weighted distance measure, for each of the second series of input points, derived from the absolute distance between the first series input point and the second series input point. Next, an error measure function is determined including a summation over each of the second series of input points, of an absolute error between a proposed line or curve and the output value of the second series of points, weighted by the weighted distance measure. The error measure function is then substantially minimized to produce a finalized line or curve. The finalized line or curve is then used to derive an output value at the first series point.

  • Patent number: 5846510
Abstract: A process for forming an aqueous chloride leachant from a spent aqueous chloride leach liquor which process comprises passing a spent aqueous chloride leach liquor and gases containing hydrogen chloride through a preconcentrator to form a concentrated aqueous chloride leach liquor by partial evaporation of water therefrom and absorption of hydrogen chloride; withdrawing a portion of the concentrated aqueous chloride leach liquor; roasting the remainder of the concentrated aqueous chloride leach liquor to generate a metal oxide, and gases containing hydrogen chloride; and passing the gases containing hydrogen chloride to the preconcentrator.

  • Patent number: 5730774
Abstract: A process for removing impurities from a titaniferous material that has been subjected to thermal reduction and which includes a titaniferous phase of general formula M.sub.3 O.sub.5. The thermally reduced titaniferous material is subjected to a secondary heat treatment to covert the M.sub.3 O.sub.5 phase to a more readily leachable M.sub.2 O.sub.3 phase. This material is then cooled and leached in an aqueous acid solution containing hydrochloric acid or sulfuric acid, and the leachate is separated from the titaniferous material to form a purified titaniferous material.

  • Patent number: 5719091
Abstract: A process for producing a zirconia beating opacifier is disclosed. The process comprising the steps of: (I) heat treatment of a zirconia bearing material comprising heating the zirconia bearing material in the presence of an additive to form a heat modified product having one or more phases which, when incorporated in a glaze and the glaze fired, exhibit opacifying characteristics; and (ii) cooling the heat modified product to produce a product which can be used for imparting opacity.

  • Patent number: 4936282
Abstract: A gas operated gun which is designed primarily to propel paint containing frangible projectiles. The gun can be designed to use a manually operable cocking mechanism which permits firing of a single projectile each time the cocking mechanism is operated. Also, the gun may be modified to include a valve mechanism which provides for automatic firing of the gun eliminating the need for the manually operated cocking.
