  • Patent number: 11766038
Abstract: An apparatus for perfusing an organ or tissue includes a perfusion circuit for perfusing the organ or tissue; an oxygenator for oxygenating perfusate that circulates through the perfusion circuit; and an oxygen supply device such as an oxygen concentrator or an oxygen generator configured to supply oxygen to the oxygenator. A method of perfusing an organ or tissue includes producing oxygen from a device such as an oxygen concentrator and an oxygen generator; supplying the produced oxygen, preferably as the oxygen is produced, to a perfusate to oxygenate the perfusate; and perfusing the organ or tissue with the oxygenated perfusate. The produced oxygen preferably has a concentration greater than the oxygen concentration in air.

  • Patent number: 10516787
Abstract: A method for operating a mobile device includes, in response to receiving a swipe gesture via a user interface of the mobile device, displaying a balance of a prepaid wireless service account on a display of the mobile device. The balance may be displayed in a currency such as monetary currency or a proprietary currency such as minutes or credits provided by a wireless service provider. The method may also include displaying an expiration time to identify a time remaining until the balance expires. The method may also include generating a balance request including a request for the balance of the prepaid wireless service account from a prepaid billing system in response to receiving the swipe gesture, transmitting the balance request to the prepaid billing system, and receiving the balance in response to the balance request.

  • Publication number: 20190142136
Abstract: In one aspect of the subject invention, a personal care product is provided herein including an applicator having a body, with a dispensing opening, and a support surface, within the body, which is advanceable towards the dispensing opening. A layer of solid personal care is disposed on the support surface which defines an exposed face bounded by spaced-apart first and second edges extending between first and second ends. The exposed face also defines a first inclined face extending from the first end to a first location between the first and second ends, and a second inclined surface, extending from the second end to a second location between the first and second ends. The first and second inclined faces define an included angle which is less than 180 degrees. Advantageously, with the subject invention, differently dimensioned and angularly disposed surfaces may be defined suitable for applying the personal care to different portions of the body.

  • Patent number: 9565853
Abstract: An apparatus for separating gas bubbles that may be entrained in perfusate flow prevents such bubbles from continuing downstream and entering an organ or tissue. The apparatus may include a chamber having a top wall, a bottom wall and side walls. The chamber may include an inlet configured to allow at least one of gas and liquid to enter the chamber, an air opening configured to allow at least gas to exit the chamber and a first liquid opening configured to allow at least liquid to exit the chamber. The apparatus may function as an accumulator that reduces or eliminates pulsatility of the liquid flow and pressure. The apparatus may include a minimum volume of gas, initially or through the accumulation of gas, such that flow and pressure fluctuations in the liquid are dampened or eliminated. The apparatus may include a sampling port in a wall of the chamber.

  • Publication number: 20160085331
Abstract: In one aspect of the teachings herein, a physical activity tracking system includes a wearable electronic device that uses dual touch points for detecting control inputs by a user. Processing within the device complements the dual touch point interface by requiring simultaneous touch detections to register user inputs to the device, and by mapping dual-touch detections of different duration to different control actions. Use of the dual-touch arrangement and the associated processing provides a number of advantages, including intuitive operation and minimization of accidental activations by the user. Other advantages of the touch interface include the ability to seat or mount the device in a variety of carriers, such as bracelets, etc., that complement wearability of the device, while still allowing for convenient charging.
