  • Patent number: 9549350
Abstract: Systems and techniques for handover management between macro base stations and home base stations. Upon receiving a measurement report from a user device including a physical cell identity and frequency pair associated with a candidate handover home base station, a macro base station transmits a message to a home base station gateway to obtain cell global identifiers of specified home base stations, which may include home base stations associated with a list of physical cell identifiers and frequency pairs including the pair received in the measurement report. Upon receiving the cell global identifiers, the base station identifies a handover target and performs signaling to the user device to direct handover to the target.

  • Publication number: 20160205595
Abstract: Systems and techniques for improved mobility robustness optimization. A user device experiencing a radio link failure sends a radio link failure report upon successfully connecting to a cell. The radio link failure report is routed to an appropriate cell, such as the cell where the radio link failure occurred. Radio conditions measurement information appearing in the radio link failure report is compared against each possible applicable threshold that might have been used by the user device, and a failure event is recorded for each comparison that indicates a failure, such as a radio link failure or handover failure. The failure event information is forwarded to suitable network elements for analysis and improvement of mobility robustness optimization operations.

  • Publication number: 20140335861
Abstract: Systems and techniques for handover management. A serving base station identifies one more candidate base stations as candidates to receive a handover of a user device and selects a target base station to receive the access request from the user device. The serving base station prepares the candidate base stations to receive the user device's access request and sends a connection reestablishment command to the user device, identifying the target base station by physical cell identifier and frequency. The user device synchronizes to the target base station identified by the physical cell identifier and frequency and performs a connection reestablishment request procedure with respect to the target base station.

  • Patent number: 8655354
Abstract: A core network receives in an uplink message a first list of closed subscriber groups (CSGs) located within one gateway domain to which mobility is possible for a user equipment UE. The core network creates a third list by checking the first list received in the uplink message against a second list which is the UE's allowed CSG list, and sends the third list downlink to at least one of a serving gateway of the UE or a serving access node of the UE. In one embodiment the first list consists of all CSGs within a domain of the respective serving gateway/access node; and in another embodiment it consists of all neighbor closed subscriber group cells of the respective serving gateway/access node which sent the uplink message to the core network. In different embodiments the third list is a whitelist or a blacklist.

  • Patent number: 8305886
Abstract: A method controls transport network layer congestion detection in HSDPA systems. The method involves detecting, at an SRNC, a condition requiring the disabling, at a Node B, of measurements performed on certain fields of a data frame for detecting congestion for certain packet flows; sending, from the SRNC to the Node B, a command for disabling said measurements for the concerned packet flows; and resetting, at the Node B, any measurement performed until reception of said command for disabling the congestion detection.

  • Patent number: 7953404
Abstract: In one aspect, a method to collect performance measurements a digital cellular communication network is provided. Radio links of the active set are set up both inside the serving cell and towards one or more adjacent cells belonging to adjacent clusters controlled by respective radio network controllers. Controllers are connected to one another in order to act either as master of the active set in communication with the core network or slave for managing directly controlled radio resources and executing requests from the master devoted to radio link set up or deletion. The master radio controller, when calling a slave for requesting a specific radio link deletion from the active set, also sends to it some information about the cause of that deletion. The slave radio controller when receives the cause information increments a performance measurement counter associated to the specific cause and to the specific cell the radio link deletion is requested for.

  • Publication number: 20040203990
Abstract: The following invention defines a method of monitoring the power level in an uplink (i.e. from a mobile to a fixed station) transmission direction from a fixed station to mobile stations accessing it, facilitating the optimal transmission of mobile stations without the need for a two-way link with the fixed station. The method proposed is particularly appropriate during the network accessing phase, handover procedure or one-way transmission (e.g. packet transmissions), where there is not (yet) a two-way link between the fixed and mobile station. It should be noted that, for packet transmissions, the link can be exclusively one-way, in the sense that the data-flow takes place in one direction only (e.g. uplink).
