  • Publication number: 20120103117
Abstract: A transmission device mounted between a supercharger compressor and a pulley designed to drive it from the vehicle motor. Two successive modules each capable of a direct engagement ratio through a free wheel, or of an overdrive ratio by locking the planet gear by means of a clutch are clamped by a spring or released by the action of centrifugal counter-weights. The action is at least compensated by the axial thrust of the teeth Fp produced by the planet gear when it is loaded. The invention independently regulates the rotational speed of the apparatus notwithstanding the speed variations of the pulley.

  • Publication number: 20110206517
Abstract: Two identical differential mechanisms are mounted in parallel between the input shaft connected to the rotor 1 of the wind generator by a speed step-up device, and the output shaft connected to a synchronous generator. The two planet gears are secured to the output shaft. The two planet carriers are secured to the input shaft. The two annulus gears therefore rotate at the same speed. They are connected by slightly differing transmission ratios, of which one is also reversing with respect to the other, to the two input elements of a comparator differential. The cage of this differential rotates at a speed equal to half the difference between the absolute values of the rotational speeds of the elements. After multiplication by gearing, this low speed is applied to the rotor of a regulating apparatus such as an electric generator. The transmission ratio is adjusted or regulated by altering the torque applied by the regulating generator.

  • Publication number: 20100062893
Abstract: The invention relates to a compact multiple-ratio transmission device. According to the invention, three planetary gearsets (TP1, TP2, TP3) use selective coupling means (B1, B2, B3, BR, C4, C5, C6) each to supply a local direct drive and at least one other transmission ratio. Said planetary gearsets belong to three different power paths (8a, 8b and 8c) between an upstream rotary member (2) and a downstream rotary member (4). Upstream gear transfer elements (TR1, TR2) are operably mounted between the upstream rotary member (2) and two “downstream” planetary gearsets (TP1, TP2). A downstream gear transfer element (TR3) is operably mounted between the third “upstream” planetary gearset (TP3) and the downstream rotary member (4). The upstream planetary gearset (TP3) is mounted about the axis (A2) of the upstream rotary member (2).

  • Publication number: 20080163710
Abstract: The invention concerns a gearbox wherein the clutch shaft (3) selectively drives one or the other of two input shafts (1,2) by means of two clutches (8). The pinion torques defining the successive ratios are configured such that the power is alternately transmitted by one clutch (8) and by the other when the transmission ratios are made to succeed each other sequentially upon use of the gearbox. The input shafts (1,2) are non-coaxial and bear input pinions (E3, E4, E5, E6) which mesh with the same output pinions (S234, S56R). In an improved embodiment, one (1) of the input shafts drives an intermediate shaft (15) which in turn likewise drives the same output pinions (S234, S56R) via the input pinions (E4, E6) borne by said input shaft and operating this time as freely rotating motion transmitter pinions. The invention provides a compact device, and minimization of the number of pinions.

  • Patent number: 7229379
Abstract: For a first gear ratio, the flyweights engage the clutch and thus connect the input to the sun wheel, whilst the ring gear is immobilised by the free wheel. For the second gear ratio, the flyweights push the ring gear against the axial thrust of the helical teeth in a direction causing the engagement of the clutch against the ring and thus, at the same time, the disengagement of the clutch. The thrust produced by the teeth on the ring gear decreases and transmission then occurs from the input to the ring gear, whilst the sun wheel is immobilised by its free wheel. The speed increases further, the flyweights rise further, compress the prestressed springs and push the ring in the direction of the engagement of the clutch, which produces direct drive.

  • Publication number: 20060025278
Abstract: The epicyclic train is able to operate as a speed reducing gear when sun-wheel (5) is stuck by a one-way clutch (8), and in direct drive when clutch (10) is engaged. The whole coupling and control structure for the ratio change is essentially grouped on the sun-wheel element (5) which is slidingly movable and integral with an inverter control means (111) which engages brake (9) when disengaging clutch (10), and conversely. The brake (9) is mounted mechanically in parallel with a one way clutch (8), and allows speed reducing operation when the torque applied to the input shaft (31) is a retarding torque. The one-way clutch is mounted in parallel with an axially unslidable bearing (54) between a stator shaft (21) and a support (51) coupled for common rotation with and mutual slidability with respect to the sun-wheel element (5). For actuation of the control member (111) there is provide an hydraulic actuator (116), spring (114), and involvement of the helical teeth axial thrust (F1, F2).

  • Patent number: 6468176
Abstract: The invention concerns a method for adjusting the smooth engagement of a gear ratio shift wherein a planetary train (7) is engaged in direct gear by the action of centrifugal counter-weights (29) locking a clutch (18). The clutch release can be derived either from a hydraulic actuator (18) or from axial reactive forces of the ring helical toothing, reaction which is transmitted by an axial stop (B2). In order to prevent the clutch (18) from being suddenly locked by the action of the counter-weights (29) in particular when the torque to be transmitted quickly disappears, a control unit (453) detects the instantaneous ratio (VE/VS), and generates measured back pressure in the actuator (45) while the counter-weights (29) are locking the clutch (18). The invention is useful for adjusting the smooth engagement of gear ratio shifts.

  • Patent number: 6336890
Abstract: A device and a method of controlling a progressive change of an overall transmission ratio from an old transmission ratio to a new transmission ratio are described. The method is applicable in a transmission device comprising a first and a second gear trains which are independently shiftable for determining together an overall transmission ratio of the transmission device. The method includes detecting a physical magnitude which is influenced by progressive ratio change in the second gear train, resulting in a progressive variation of said overall transmission ratio in one direction, and also includes controlling an actuator of a first selective coupling means as a function of a detected value of the physical magnitude to progressively change a transmission ratio in the first gear train in a direction contrary to the first direction.

  • Patent number: 6155952
Abstract: A clutch engaged by means of flyweights and a spring directly meshes an input sun gear and an output planet gear carrier. When engagement pressure is insufficient for torque to be transmitted, a crown wheel slows down and is stopped by a free wheel, while an axial thrust (Pac) produced by helical teeth releases the clutch, so that the device functions as a step down device. A control unit accelerates the onset of the procedure. The device enhances the comfort and reduces stresses of the transmission.

  • Patent number: 5993346
Abstract: The crown wheel of a planetary gear is connected to an input shaft while the planet carrier is connected to the output shaft. The sun wheel is locked by means of a free wheel when the clutch is released. The device then operates as a reduction gear. The sun wheel rotates with the crown wheel and the planer carrier when the clutch is engaged. The axial forces (F.sub.AP, F.sub.AC), sustained by the sun wheel and the crown wheel when in gear-reduction mode, and resulting from the helical tooth configuration, tend through the stop to compress a spring and release the clutch. When in direct drive and beyond a certain torque, the clutch slips, thereby generating the above-mentioned axial forces which compress the spring and accelerate disengaging. The device operates as a reduction gear until the torque on the shaft is reduced, thereby, enabling the spring to re-engage the clutch.
