Abstract: A method and a device are disclosed including a computer network coupling multiple network ordinary devices and master devices communicating via a middle layer communication software that is device-independent. The master devices are programmable via a Universal Programming Application (UPA) that is installed on the devices. Devices include sensors or home or industrial accessories, smart TV, smart Refrigerator, smart oven, smart coffee makers, industrial or non-industrial machine or component, a software application, and generally any other device that is capable of connecting to a network to exchange data. A device may include events and services. Events are distinct changes in status or configuration of a device. Services are functions a device may perform. In some embodiments, the set of events and services defined for a device may be available via a catalog service. Events and services may be local to the master device or be remote.
