  • Publication number: 20150204312
Abstract: A connector assembly (1) comprises a first and second connector portions (20, 26), one of which is a ring (24) and the other of which is a collar (26), each having its own mounting portion (17, 19) for connection to a tubular member (2, 12). The ring comprises a flange (40) and the collar has a plurality of clamping modules (34). The collar has an inward lip (44) and an opening (32) for receiving the ring so that the flange (40) abuts the lip (44). Each one of a plurality of clamping modules is seated in an aperture (68) in the collar. Each clamping module comprises a housing (50), a clamping member (36) and a clamping actuator (33), The clamping members move radially inwards through the apertures towards the ring (24) to clamp the flange (40) between the lip (44) and the clamping members (36) to secure the ring within the collar.

  • Patent number: 8904621
Abstract: The invention relates to a connector (1) for clamping a component around a tubular member (30) and to a method of using such a connector. The clamping connector (1) comprises a collar (2), a plurality of movable dogs (16) mounted in the collar and actuation means for driving the movement of the dogs. The collar (2) has an inner wall (4) and an outer wall 5, the inner wall being adapted to surround the tubular member (30) with a gap (56) between an outer surface of the inner wall (4) and an outer surface (28) of the tubular member. The inner wall (4) has a plurality of apertures (12) each aperture leading to a passage (14) through the inner wall. Each of the dogs (16) is slidably seated in one of the passages (14) for movement in a radial direction with respect to the tubular member (30). Around each passage (14) the inner wall (4) is spaced apart from an inner surface (25) of the outer wall (5).
