  • Patent number: 8364801
Abstract: A method for managing a network element inventory for a video and data network is provided. The method includes self-discovering a physical network inventory of the video and data network. Additionally, a logical network inventory of the video and data network is self-discovered. Further, a planned network inventory of the video and data network is provided. Once the planned, logical, and physical network inventories are collected, the physical network inventory, logical network inventory, and planned network inventory are loaded into the network element inventory. After loading, synchronization of the physical network inventory, logical network inventory, and planned network inventory in the network element inventory is performed. A view is then provided using the synchronized physical network inventory, logical network inventory, and planned network inventory when a request for the view of the network element inventory is received.

  • Patent number: 7693079
Abstract: A method for proactively managing a fault in a video and data network is provided. The method includes collecting network correlation data for the fault. Additionally, a physical connectivity test of the video and data network is automatically performed. Physical connectivity data from the physical connectivity test is collected. Also, a virtual connectivity test of the video and data network is automatically performed. Virtual connectivity data from the virtual connectivity test is collected. The network correlation data, physical connectivity data, and virtual connectivity data is then correlated based on the fault. Once the correlation is performed, a defined resolution procedure for resolving the fault using the correlated network correlation data, physical connectivity data, and virtual connectivity data is provided.

  • Patent number: 7464164
Abstract: A method for determining spare capacity for a video and data network from a network element database is provided. The method includes receiving a request for spare capacity in the video and data network. The request may include a service area identifier, which may be a telephone number of a customer. Using the service area identifier, equipment is then identified and checked for spare capacity. The network element database is checked to determine if the identified equipment has spare data and video capacity and if the equipment has spare data and video capacity, spare video and data capacity is calculated for the identified equipment.

  • Patent number: 7219124
Abstract: The present invention provides for provisioning broadband services using a VDSL-based communication network. The present invention includes a system architecture and method for automatically activating VDSL service by self-discovering customer premises equipment, such as a residential gateway, by determining the loop associated with a user and the subscribed content to be delivered to the user.

  • Patent number: 7134135
Abstract: A method for managing a plurality of failures in a video and data network is provided. The method includes discovering a failure in the video and data network. The failure is correlated with the plurality of failures to determine related failures. A root cause of the failure is then isolated. Next, the related failures that were generated as a result of the root cause failure are suppressed. If the root cause is automatically resolvable, the root cause is resolved.

  • Patent number: 7058707
Abstract: A method for performance managing a service in a video and data network is provided. The method includes identifying one or more users receiving the service. Additionally, a physical network transport in the video and data network is identified for the one or more users. Further, a virtual network transport in the video and data network is identified for the one or more users. Then, performance data through the physical network transport and the virtual network transport is monitored. Once the performance data is monitored, one or more threshold values for the one or more users' service are determined and it is determined if the performance data violates at least one of the one or more threshold values.

  • Patent number: 7032016
Abstract: A method for managing a repair process for a fault between a proactive network repair system and customer service system using a repair ticketing system is provided. The method includes detecting the fault in the proactive network repair system. Once detected, an indication of the fault is sent to the repair ticketing system and a repair ticket is created. The repair ticketing system then correlates one or more customers affected by the fault to the repair ticket and communicates the repair ticket and the one or more customers affected by the fault to customer service system before a call is received by the one or more customers affected by the fault.
