  • Patent number: 6099388
Abstract: A method for repairing a compact disc (1) damaged by a circumferential scratch (2) comprises subjecting a localized area (21) around the scratch (2) to a treatment regime comprising fifty rubbing cycles with a first abrasive sheet (10) of abrasive particle size of 1 micron. Each rubbing cycle comprises one manual radial stroke in the radial direction A and a return radial stroke in the radial direction B. After the first treatment regime if the scratch (2) has not been sufficiently removed the localized area (21) is then subjected to a similar treatment regime with a second abrasive sheet of abrasive particle size 3 microns. A further similar treatment regime is carried out using a third abrasive sheet of abrasive particle size 5 microns in the event that the second abrasive sheet did not sufficiently remove the scratch (2).

  • Patent number: 5864348
Abstract: A cleaning device for cleaning a printing head of an ink jet cartridge of an ink jet printer comprises a box having a base closed by a lid. A resilient support pad laminated to the base supports a cleaning member for cleaning the printing head. The cleaning member comprises a backing sheet laminated to the support pad, and a plurality of upstanding fibres woven into and extending upwardly from the backing sheet. The maximum dimension of the fibres is less than the minimum dimension of the ink jet orifices of the printing head for enabling the fibres to project into the ink jet orifices for cleaning thereof. The fibres are of hydrophobic material but are packed sufficiently tightly together for retaining a cleaning liquid by a capillary type action therebetween.

  • Patent number: 5856900
Abstract: A cleaning device (1) for cleaning a video head and drum of a camcorder consists of a housing (2) for engaging the cassette receiving area of the camcorder. A brush (5) on a carrier arm (3) is urged from a rest position within the housing (2) into cleaning engagement with the head and drum under the control of a control mechanism (7). The control mechanism (7) is powered by a drive spindle in the cassette receiving area. A retaining latch (10) secured in the housing (2) consists of a camming member (14) for engaging the carrier arm (3) for retaining the carrier arm (3) and the brush (5) in the rest position. A portion (30) of the retaining latch (10) is resilient for urging the retaining latch (10) downwardly for retaining the carrier arm in the rest position. An engagement member (25) on the retaining latch (10) engages a light post (28) in the cassette receiving area as the housing (2) is being lowered into the cassette receiving area for releasing the retaining latch (10).

  • Patent number: 5309307
Abstract: A cleaning device for cleaning a video drum or video head of a video unit comprises a cassette tape type housing. A carrier arm pivotal in the housing carries a brush for cleaning the video drum and video head. A linkage arm under the action of a drive spring pivots the carrier arm into cleaning engagement with the video drum. A control member under the action of a return spring pivots the linkage arm to return the carrier arm. A timing wheel times a cleaning cycle and controls the linkage arm and the control member.

  • Patent number: 4851945
Abstract: A demagnetizing device for demagnetizing a sound head in a cassette tape recorder, comprises a cassette type housing. A carrier member pivotal in the housing carries a permanent magnet which oscillates with the carrier member sidewardly across an opening in the housing adjacent the sound head of the cassette tape recorder to demagnetize the sound head. A cam driven by a spindle of the cassette tape recorder acting on a follower drives the carrier member with oscillating movement.
