  • Publication number: 20060255773
Abstract: An external AC power adaptor having an additional compartment for cooling. The adaptor has a housing that defines a first compartment having power circuitry for converting an AC input to a DC output and a second compartment that has an opening formed in the adaptor housing. A heat transfer plate is disposed between the first and second compartments.

  • Publication number: 20060249305
Abstract: A method and system are provided for shielding electromagnetic interference (EMI). A first component and a second component are provided, whereby the two components are integrated in such a way that the second component, although only partially shielding itself, extends the EMI shielding ability of the first component. The second component can be an optical device drive (ODD) that provides only partial shielding when its tray is opened to insert an optical disk. However, because the ODD is integrated with the first component, which can be a gaming console, in such a way that no internal EMI generated by hardware internal to the first component can escape, the second component is used as an integral EMI shield of the first component.

  • Publication number: 20050168940
Abstract: A computing device includes a housing with various electrical and/or mechanical components included therein. Disposed within the housing is a processor assembly that includes a fan. The fan is configured to draw air into the interior of the housing and force air heated by the internal components of the computing device from the interior of the housing. The fan has a diameter that is larger than the smallest dimension of the three orthogonal dimensions of the housing of the computing device and generates low levels of acoustic noise having a low frequency. Additionally, the processor assembly includes a support structure that supports the fan and reduces the effects of electromagnetic emissions generated by a processor of the processor assembly upon electrical devices adjacent to the computing device.

  • Patent number: 5229689
Abstract: An electrostatic shield and method for shielding an electric field are presented, having particular application to the reduction of electric field emissions from a CRT display. The electrostatic shield is formed from a flexible non-conductive substrate and includes a plurality of radially disposed conductive elements. The shield is secured to the outer surface of the CRT, between the deflection yoke and screen, and the conductive elements are coupled to ground potential. In addition to a method for using the abovedescribed shield, a method is presented for shielding the electric field by applying conductive traces directly to the surface of the CRT, again between the deflection yoke and screen. These traces are coupled to the aquadag coating on the outer surface of the CRT, effectively grounding the traces and providing the desired shielding effect.
