Abstract: A catheter system for draining a bodily fluid from a fluid source in a body of a subject. In one form, the catheter tube has a proximal end and a distal end. The catheter tube includes a drainage lumen that extends from a proximal end opening in the proximal end to a distal end opening in the distal end. The catheter system further includes a fluid sampling component in fluid communication with the distal end opening. In some embodiments, the catheter system includes a one-way check valve. In some embodiments, the catheter system includes a balloon positioned between one or more openings.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus are provided for increasing compliance with the discard volume method of blood drawing. The method includes attaching an initial discard container for discarding an initial amount of blood drawn to a standard blood culture bottle. The apparatus, detachable and configurable with a variety of standard blood culture containers, may act as a physical reminder and a convenient handling arrangement for drawing blood according to the preferred discard volume method that reduces sample contamination and false positives. These methods and apparatus may be compatible or retrofit with existing standard blood culture bottles or kits.

Abstract: A modular dispenser is disclosed, having a first cover body with a first face having an aperture, and a second cover body hingedly coupled to the first cover body through at least one hinge. The first cover body and second cover body are movable between an open position and a closed position. The second cover body includes a second face that is opposite the first face of the first cover body when in the closed position. The first cover body and second cover body together define a cavity that may hold hygiene wipes or sanitizing gel. The modular dispenser also includes at least one attachment mechanism coupled to the second cover body, and a moisture lock coupled to one of the first cover body and the second cover body and disposed along the interface between the first cover body and the second cover body when in the closed position.
