  • Patent number: 4165487
Abstract: Low power apparatus and method for tuning portable receivers of patrons of an establishment (such as an auditorium) to a predetermined frequency and communicating audio frequency information to the patrons via the portable receivers. An audio signal is derived from an audio frequency public address sound system and inputted to a modulator to modulate a radio frequency carrier signal. The modulated carrier signal is amplified and transmitted by means of a loop antenna surrounding the region of the establishment wherein the patrons and their portable receivers are situated. A very low power modulated radio frequency signal is derived from a transmitter including a modulator and an amplifier and is inputted to a receiver tuning aid circuit positioned near the entrance of the establishment.
