  • Patent number: 12565017
Abstract: Apparatus and methods are described including an additional lens (24) made from an amorphous viscoelastic material and having an optical design. A curvature of the additional lens (24) is changed such as to conform with a curvature of abase eyeglasses lens (22), without causing a loss of the optical design of the additional lens (24), by heating the additional lens (24) to a temperature at which a Tan Delta of the amorphous viscoelastic material is between 0.2 and 0.8, and shaping the additional lens (24). Subsequently, the additional lens (24) is adhered to the base eyeglasses lens (22). The optical design of the additional lens (24) is such that, upon being adhered to the base eyeglasses lens (22), the adhered base eyeglasses lens (22) and the additional lens (24) provide a combined lens (20) having a desired optical prescription. Other applications are also described.

  • Publication number: 20250244328
Abstract: A coupled enzyme reaction point of care lateral assay system detects and measures an active enzyme biomarker from a patient's blood sample. The lateral assay system has a point of care blood collector for collecting blood into a blood collection vial. A biomarker detection mechanism has at least three lateral flow strips. Each lateral flow strip has a fluid input zone, a corresponding reaction zone and a pretreatment band. The fluid flow strips include a test strip for separation of cells from the patient's blood sample. The reaction zones include components from a multiplicity of substrates, cofactors, buffers and cryoprotectants, and a multiplicity of tethered enzymes. At least one of the tethered enzymes is an enzyme that produces luminescence. The tethered enzymes are adapted to react to a constituent such as a biomarker. A photonic luminescence reader measures light emitted from an active enzyme biomarker present in the patient's blood.

  • Publication number: 20240219387
Abstract: A coupled enzyme reaction assay to measure the activity of a first enzyme in a sample taken from a patient. The reaction assay includes a test well which includes a freeze-dried mixture having two layers where the first layer includes first tethered enzyme nanobots, where each nanobot has a nanoparticle tethered to a set of second enzymes. A second layer is introduced into the test well. The set of second enzymes are adapted to react with a substrate within the test well. The first layer of the freeze-dried mixture includes second tethered nanobots formed by tethering a nanoparticle to a set of third enzymes to provide oriented immobilization of the set of the third enzymes. The third enzymes react to produce a signal for determining the amount of enzymatic activity of the first enzyme in the sample from the patient.
