  • Patent number: 4235071
Abstract: A friction false twist apparatus is provided which may be readily threaded-up during operation, and which includes at least three spindles mounted for rotation about fixed axes, with each spindle mounting a plurality of circular discs, and with the discs overlapping at a central location between the spindles. The spindles are concurrently rotated by a common endless drive belt, and a movable yarn deflecting means is provided for selectively moving a yarn from an inoperative laterally spaced position where thread-up may be effected, to an operative path of travel disposed centrally between the spindles and wherein twist is imparted to the yarn by contact with the rotating discs. There is also provided a fixed yarn guide for guiding the yarn from the operative path of travel to a position exteriorly of the area encompassed by the endless drive belt, whereby thread-up may be effected without manually threading the yarn through either the overlapping discs or the endless belt.

  • Patent number: 4129980
Abstract: In a false twist or friction twist texturing machine of the type wherein a plurality of rotatably mounted spindles each carry a plurality of friction discs which overlap and through which a thread is passed along a zig-zag path between the spindles and over the edges of the friction discs, the friction disc assemblies are improved to the extent that they are formed of a circular base member extending outwardly from an arbor which is then mounted on one of the spindles. Such base members include an inwardly extending peripheral groove and a separate, ring-shaped friction member formed of a resilient material having a relatively high coefficent of friction and formed of such size and shape as to be releasably snap-fit into the groove, whereby when worn out the ring is replaced and the base member reused.

  • Patent number: 4125229
Abstract: On a texturing machine such as a false twist machine a broken strand of thread or yarn is restarted during a winding process by means of a uniquely formed end cap which mounts the take-off end of the winding spool to the take-up holder arm. The end cap includes a shoulder extending in an axial direction beyond the rim of the take-off end of the spool and a hook-like tab extending outwardly over the shoulder which picks up the broken yarn end and guides the yarn around the shoulder portion for several rotations. After wrapping the yarn around the shoulder traversing of the yarn along the spool is carried out until the interrupted yarn package is completed. When the package is complete the spool is removed from the winding machine, leaving the end cap on the machine. During inspection the aforesaid two ends are tied together completing the repair of the broken end.
