  • Publication number: 20030226706
Abstract: A motor vehicle anti-theft apparatus is operable to erect a locked physical barrier to prohibit access to the the foot pedal assembly. The device includes a pair of vertically mounted guides which are mounted on either side of the foot pedal assembly between the pedals and the operator. A rod is rotatably mounted horizontally between the left and right channels proximate to the upper ends of the channels, and a shutter assembly is fixedly attached to the rod and is slidably disposed in the vertically mounted guides. The shutter assembly includes a plurality of elongated rectangular panels having an articulated linkage to one another wherein rotation of the rod causes the shutter assembly to be successively wrapped around the rod. The shutter assembly can be moved between an extended and retracted position wherein the retracted position permits access to the foot pedal assembly and the extended position provides a physical barrier to the foot pedal assembly.

  • Publication number: 20030192200
Abstract: An athletic shoe having a substantially horizontal chamber substantially within a heel portion of a midsole, having atmospheric communication at its lateral sides, includes a chamber having an upper substantially rigid horizontal support plate having several transverse downwardly directed resilient cavities, each of the cavities defined by an upper resilient sleeve. The chamber also includes a lower substantially rigid horizontal support plate having corresponding upwardly directed resilient cavities, each of the cavities defined by a lower resilient sleeve; and includes resilient elements having a vertical length greater than an aggregate vertical length of walls of each pair of the upper and lower cavities when the resilient elements are uncompressed, the resilient elements each having a greater spring constant and spring rate than the walls of the cavities.

  • Patent number: 6131424
Abstract: A vehicle pedal locking device includes a multi-piece housing assembly having an internal chamber, a two-part sleeve-like pedal engaging member disposed within the housing assembly, and a lock assembly for selectively securing the housing assembly portions in a pedal-securing orientation. Housing assembly portions each include a corresponding portion of the pedal engaging member, and the pedal engaging member pieces secure opposite ends of a selected brake pedal. The lock assembly is key operated and substantially enclosed within the device outer housing. The housing internal chamber substantially surrounds the secured brake pedal and accelerator. With this arrangement, the present invention prevents unwanted pedal operation. The present invention also protects the secured pedals and included lock assembly from abuse and makes unauthorized removal of the device difficult.
