  • Patent number: 5409166
Abstract: A portable electric-powered particulate spreader has a housing having an inlet and an outlet. A reservoir for holding particulate material is located above the housing. A blower is located with a flow path extending from the inlet to the outlet for inducing air flow along the flow path. A particulate intake port is formed in a channel wall which encompasses an exhaust channel extending downstream from the blower to the outlet. A valve controls flow of particulate material from the reservoir to the particulate intake port. An agitator located between the reservoir and exhaust channel rotationally reciprocates and induces vibrations which assist the flow of particulate material. A foil in the exhaust channel produces a low static pressure in the which tends to draw particulate material from the reservoir into the air flow. Delays are built in so that the blower turns on before opening the valve is opened and the valve is closed before the blower is turned off.

  • Patent number: 5060124
Abstract: A concealable surgical light device such as for a birthing room has a frame for supporting the light on one side and a decorative panel on the other side. The frame includes reinforcing ribs positioned in a Y shape, and a cylindrical section at the intersection of the ribs for attaching the light. The frame is rotatably supported inside a housing which is fixed within the ceiling structure. At one end of the housing there is a fixed tube and a bearing and at the other end is an output shaft of a speed reducer gear connected to the frame through a torque limiter and slip clutch for rotatably supporting the frame. Wires are fed through the tube without being subjected to rubbing or twisting. In a closed position of the frame, the light is concealed within the ceiling structure and the decorative panel is flush with the ceiling. In an open position, the light is deployable as it faces into the birthing room.

  • Patent number: 4926507
Abstract: A drain closure comprises a drain stopper having a downwardly projecting sleeve, an upwardly extending post loosely received in the sleeve, and structure carrying the post, the sleeve having at least one opening through the side thereof, and a spring carried by the sleeve and having an arm received in that opening to frictionally engage the post, whereby the sleeve, spring and stopper are adjustably movable up and down relative to the post, against frictional force exerted by the spring arm engaging the post as the arm slides relative to the post.

  • Patent number: 4707933
Abstract: A wall-mounted dryer of the type for drying a person's hands, face and hair with blowing heated air. The inlet for air into the dryer is formed by a narrow opening around the periphery, except on top, along the surface of the wall for inhibiting the entry of foreign objects, such as by vandals. The narrow opening has inclined louvres for further reducing the size of the openings into the dryer.

  • Patent number: 4527740
Abstract: A hose-end sprayer includes a linearly actuated valve such as a poppet valve that is opened by means of pressure applied thereto from a pivoted lever. The lever and valve provide instant on and off action and one-handed control over the water flow. Pressurized water containing a mixed chemical is supplied to a spray defining nozzle in a closed system that maintains the water under full pressure until after it emerges from the nozzle. By preventing contact between the water and air until the spray pattern is formed, better definition of the pattern is obtained and nozzle drip is eliminated.

  • Patent number: 4465187
Abstract: There is provided a card file box comprising a pair of mirror-image side panels, a U-shaped member comprising a bottom panel, and front and rear end panels secured to the side panels to form a rigid structure and a tambour for slidingly enclosing the top of the box. The lateral edges of the tambour are slidably disposed in channels in the side panels. A removable clip at the bottom of the card file box forms a stop in the channel. Removal of the clip forms a passage for removal of the tambour. The card file box further comprises generally vertical ribs on the interior of each side panel for subdividing the interior of the box into card-supporting compartments and generally vertical ribs on the front and rear end panels for facilitating removal of cards adjacent to the end panels.

  • Patent number: 4264305
Abstract: A gun-like instrument for making dental impressions, comprising an outer air nozzle and an inner nozzle for impression material within the outer nozzle, the inner nozzle projecting beyond the tip of the outer nozzle so that any tendency of the impression material to plug the outer nozzle is eliminated. The air emanating from the outer nozzle first removes debris from the operative area, and then causes the impression material to impinge on the tooth in such a way as to form an accurate impression. The instrument includes a hand grip having a finger operable trigger forwardly thereof for discharging impression material from the inner nozzle, a valve for discharging air from the air nozzle, and thumb operable valve actuators on opposite sides of the instrument for opening the air valve. With this construction, the fingers can be used to control the discharge of impression material, while the thumb is used to control the discharge of air independently.

  • Patent number: 4203519
Abstract: A tape cartridge holder comprising a container provided with transverse cartridge compartments respectively having resilient retainers therein along one side of the container and respectively engageable with the edges of cartridges in the compartments. The retainers comprise integral parts of a retainer assembly including a common retainer base from which the retainers project and with which the retainers are integrally formed. The container has a bottom wall provided adjacent one side thereof with a slot within which the retainer base is positioned with the retainers projecting into the compartments along one side of the container. The retainer base in the slot is secured to the container to support the retainers within the compartments.

  • Patent number: 4168854
Abstract: A lock in which a bolt is slidable by rotation of a pivoted handle connected to the bolt by a toggle link pin-connected to the bolt and handle. The handle is channel-shaped in cross section, and conceals and protects the bolt and toggle link in the locked position. The handle moves through 180.degree. between locked and unlocked positions. A key operated barrel lock has an exterior detent through which the bolt passes, in the release position of the barrel lock, and the bolt has a recess which receives the key-operated barrel lock in the locked position thereof.

  • Patent number: 4163375
Abstract: A lock has a bolt and a key-operated barrel at right angles, and with their axes coplanar. A pinion has teeth which engage teeth on the bolt and teeth on an extension of the barrel. The pinion, bolt and barrel are in a longitudinally split housing, held together by screws, the pinion having a slot to receive one of the screws. The barrel lock moves a latch plate transverse to its axes, so as to extend into a slot in the housing to prevent movement of the barrel.
