  • Patent number: 8425264
Abstract: An electrical connector for a threaded stud may include: a connector body having a first end with a recessed portion and an anti-rotation wall extending upwardly from the recessed portion; a connector element configured to electrically connect and secure the threaded stud thereto; and a fastener configured to secure said connector element to the connector body. The connector element is selectively attached to the connector body in either a right-hand configuration, in which the threaded stud is secured on a right side of the connector body, or a left-hand configuration, in which the threaded stud is secured on a left side of the connector body. The anti-rotation wall engages a side wall of the connector element to prevent the connector element from rotating about the fastener relative to the connector body.

  • Patent number: 6772868
Abstract: A railroad rail is electrically and mechanically connected to a power conductor by an electrical connector that includes a first connector part having a first tail that is bolted to the web of the railroad rail, a socket, and a first opening in the socket. The connector also includes a second connector part having a second tail, a head rotatably received in the socket, and a second opening in the head. The second connector part is rotatable in the socket between an open position, in which the first and second openings are aligned to allow a power conductor to be inserted into the connector, and a clamped position, in which the first and second openings are partially misaligned to clamp the electrical conductor in place. A fastener passes through the first and second tails to hold the second connector part in the clamped position.

  • Publication number: 20020127923
Abstract: An electrical connector includes a first part having a tail and a generally cylindrical head that is divided into segments. The connector also includes second and third parts, each having a tail and a head, wherein the heads of the second and third parts are wrapped in the reverse direction from the head of the first part, and wherein the head of the second and third parts receive the head of the first part for rotation. A split, internally-threaded bushing is positioned inside the segment of the first part aligned with the second part, and this segment is engaged with the second head such that rotation of the second part to a closed position compresses the threaded split bushing. The heads of the third parts and the associated segments of the first part are provided with cable-receiving openings that are misaligned to a greater extent when the third parts are in a closed position as compared to an open position.

  • Patent number: 6241563
Abstract: An electrical connector (10) includes inner and outer conductive straps (14, 12), each having a tail (18, 24) and a conductor-receiving portion (26, 20). The conductor-receiving portions (26, 20) are wrapped in reverse directions with respect to the axis of rotation (A) of the connector to reduce any tendency of the inner element to bind or stick in the outer element. The connector includes conductor receiving passages or openings (30, 32) for both a larger conductor such as a ground rod (C1) and a smaller conductor such as a ground wire (C2). The conductor receiving openings are oval for the ground rod and circular for the ground wire such that the connector distorts the ground wire to a greater extent than it distorts the ground rod as the connector is closed.

  • Patent number: 5765962
Abstract: A ground rod connector includes first and second connector portions that are pivotably mounted together to move between an open position and a closed position. The connector portions include tail portions that are positioned adjacent one another in side-by-side orientation when the connector portions are in the closed position, and a threaded fastener is coupled between the tail portions to hold the connector portions in the closed position. The connector portions cooperate to form a ground rod receiving passage and at least one ground wire receiving passage. These passages are formed in part by the first connector portion and in part by the second connector portion and are oriented such that movement of the connector portions to the closed position clamps a ground rod and a ground wire in the respective passages.

  • Patent number: 5466176
Abstract: A cable clamp includes first and second jaws secured together by a fastener to clamp a cable therebetween. A shield member is mounted to the longer of the jaws, adjacent to the shorter of the jaws, and a moisture resistant cover is sealed to the shield member, around the shorter jaw and to a clamped cable. The fastener includes a boss with a threaded opening on one of the jaws, which boss is received by an opening in the other of the jaws. A bolt engages the threaded opening to clamp the jaws on the cable.
