  • Patent number: 5087445
Abstract: The present invention relates to sunscreen compositions for substantially daily use containing effective sunscreening agents for both UVA and UVB radiation which are not readily absorbed by the skin; which have increased sunscreen protection and decreased chance for allergy, irritation, or toxicity problems resulting from daily or almost daily use; and which are less susceptible to rub off. These sunscreen compositions provide a constant and even protection against both UVA and UVB radiation and which are cosmetically acceptable. Furthermore, the present invention relates to methods for protecting the skin of humans or lower animals from the effects of UVA and UVB wavelength radiation. This method comprises topically applying to the skin on a substantially daily basis an effective coating of a sunscreen composition of the present invention.
