  • Patent number: 4147086
Abstract: A pedal steel guitar comprises an improved pitch changer mechanism for effecting string pitch changes. The mechanism comprises a plurality of pitch-changing fingers, each mounted for pivotal movement with respect to a selected axis and adapted to be connected to a guitar string end, so that tension on the string end will urge the finger in a selected direction, a stop for limiting movement of the fingers, a number of pitch bars each adapted to move relative to said axis and thereby mechanically force at least one of said fingers to move so as to change the pitch of the string attached thereto, and pull means for selectively moving the pitch bars so as to selectively change the pitch of the strings attached to said fingers. The changer mechanism may be adapted to raise or lower the pitch of each string.

  • Patent number: 4092894
Abstract: A hand held device for use in varying the pitch of at least one string of a flat bodied stringed musical instrument. The device comprises an elongated body beveled at opposite ends so as to provide first and second mutually convergent surfaces. The length of the body is such that when the body is held in the user's hand, one beveled end engages the palm, while simultaneously the other end may be engaged by the ball of the index finger. The device also includes a loop member attached to the body and formed so as to extend between the index and middle fingers of the hand and around the top of the index finger in a loose manner so that the body can be securely held in the hand and so that the index finger can be arched to vary the pressure exerted on the body.

  • Patent number: 4029581
Abstract: Apparatus for agitating and aerating sewage and industrial waste comprising a plurality of flexible, inflatable cells disposed in the bottom of a liquid waste holder and means for supplying and withdrawing air to and from the cells so as to cause them to periodically inflate and deflate, whereby the liquid is agitated by the varying water displacement of the cells. Aeration is accomplished by providing the cells with gas-escape orifices that permit air to escape from the cells into the surrounding liquid at controlled rates in the form of small bubbles that rise in the liquid and make intimate contact with suspended solids.
