  • Patent number: 8755504
Abstract: A system and method for creating a custom-developed service by a customer in a service directory of a network service provider are provided. The data defining the custom-developed service received by the network service provider may be tested, corrected, and verified. The service directory may be established in the provider's network to store the data associated with the custom-developed service. Once the custom-developed service is established and operational, the customer or its subscribers may be billed based on their use of the service.

  • Patent number: 8380200
Abstract: A mobile station has a transmitter, a first receiver, and a second receiver, each of which can be configured to use a first radio access technology and a second radio access technology. The mobile station uses the transmitter and the first receiver to engage in a communication session via a serving base station that uses the first radio access technology. When a degradation in quality of the communication session is detected, the mobile station evaluates a target base station by transmitting a trial communication to the serving base station and receiving, through the second receiver, a trial response from a target base station. The target base station uses the second radio access technology. If the trial response is acceptable, the mobile station requests a handover of the communication session to the target base station. The mobile station may select the target base station from a multi-technology neighbor list.

  • Patent number: 8340697
Abstract: A method and computer-readable medium for dynamically adjusting a multimedia data resolution in a wireless environment is provided. The method includes: determining the access profile of the mobile station; monitoring transmission conditions in the wireless system; transmitting the multimedia data and control signaling to the mobile station with a highest resolution based upon the transmission conditions, wherein the control signaling determines an amount of the multimedia data accessible to the mobile station based upon the access profile of the mobile station; and decreasing a resolution of the multimedia data being transmitted to the mobile station, if the transmission conditions become unacceptable for transmitting the multimedia data at the highest resolution.

  • Patent number: 8009680
Abstract: A private wireless network interface provides wireless signaling and protocols of a wireless macro network to allow a consumer to operate over a private wireless network. The private wireless network interface receives wireless signals compatible with a wireless macro network and transmits the signals over a broadband connection to a wireless service provider's wireless macro network. The private wireless network interface allows the use of mobile stations which are compatible with a wireless macro network to operate in a residence and have the signals backhauled over the residence's broadband connection. The private wireless network interface can provide wireless macro network coverage in any location with some type of coupling to the Internet.

  • Patent number: 7945261
Abstract: Systems and methods for provisioning and synchronizing subscriber data are provided. Subscriber data is provisioned in two home location registers, each located in a different wireless network. When the subscriber registers in one of the wireless networks, the subscriber data is obtained from the local home location register. One of the two home location registers is designated as the owning home location register. Updates of subscriber data are performed with the owning home location register, which then updates the other home location register.

  • Patent number: 7929567
Abstract: A data transfer system receives a first service flow, a second service flow, and a third service flow that comprise a data session for a user device. The data transfer system transfers the first service flow to a scheduler using a first data rate limit and transfers the second service flow to the scheduler using a second data rate limit. The data transfer system also transfers the third service flow to the scheduler. The scheduler schedules transfers of the first service flow and the second service flow at a higher priority than transfers of the third service flow. The data transfer system transfers the first service flow, the second service flow, and the third service based on the prioritized schedule and using a third data rate limit. Thus, the first and second service flows receive a limited amount of preferential bandwidth, and the third service flow obtains unused bandwidth from the first and second service flows, subject to the third data rate limit.
