  • Patent number: 5327857
Abstract: A road vehicle drive system using a crankless, unthrottled internal combustion engine directly powering its wheels hydrostatically to eliminate wasteful idling and part-throttle operation so that fuel use and harmful emissions are much reduced in a lighter, less costly vehicle retaining the operational convenience of conventional systems.
    Type: Grant

  • Patent number: 4076336
Abstract: The required pumping power for hydrostatic bearings is reduced with bearings having at least two lubricating areas bounded with a narrow raised perimeter of lower clearance. The lubricant is supplied under pressure and is retained with an area which is large enough to provide a low friction thick film of lubricant while the clearance at the narrow, raised perimeter is small enough to provide satisfactory control of lubricant loss rates. In particular embodiments, the raised perimeter is provided by sealing assembly mounted on one side of the sliding surfaces.
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: February 28, 1978

  • Patent number: 3943895
Abstract: An axial cylinder internal combustion engine having a cylindrical cam is provided with special cam roller followers subjected to oil under pressure to keep them in close operating contact with the radial cam surfaces. Oil pressure is also used to maintain the pistons in contact with the circumferential cam surface. The engine further includes a rotary valve for supplying a stratified charge to each cylinder and unique means for continuously lubricating the valve face.
