  • Publication number: 20140289961
Abstract: A lift apparatus has a frame with open sides and a web assembly slidably retained along the sides which extends from one end of the frame to the other. While the web assembly is retracted, the frame moves to pass around a mobility-impaired individual and rest against the surface supporting the individual. The web assembly is then extended to move underneath or behind the individual, providing lifting support. The frame is configurable for orientations ranging continuously between horizontal and upright sitting. The web assembly has an upper web contacting the individual, a lower web contacting the support surface, a strength layer carrying the individual's weight, and a roller nose bar assembly which is pulled to extend the web assembly. A hand-held power tool can drive the web assembly, adjustment of inclinations of the back and leg sections of the frame, and vertical motion of the lift arm.

  • Publication number: 20110149000
Abstract: A microdeposition system includes a stage, a printhead carriage, and a controller. The stage holds a substrate. The printhead carriage includes N printhead modules, where N is an integer greater than one. Each of the N printhead modules includes a printhead and an alignment mechanism. The printhead includes a plurality of nozzles that deposit droplets of fluid manufacturing material onto the substrate while relative movement between the substrate and the printhead is along a first axis. The alignment mechanism adjusts the printhead with respect to the printhead module. The controller controls the alignment mechanisms of the N printhead modules to set effective nozzle spacing for the pluralities of nozzles to a uniform value. The effective nozzle spacing is defined as spacing between adjacent ones of the plurality of nozzles as projected onto a second axis perpendicular to the first axis.

  • Publication number: 20040251063
Abstract: A mobility unit uses several modular components that allow the unit to be assembled or re-configured into one of a number of different product designs. Four such modules may include a front module which houses the front pivoted casters or wheels and foot rests, a center module which provides the lifting/transfer/elevate functions, a propulsion module having the rear wheels, variable speed/reversible gear drive motors, batteries, and a chair control computer, and a rear module which contains the seat back cushion and support, and any push handles and controls for operation by an caregiver. Mechanical interfaces are designed to accommodate the interconnection of the modules in various configurations. Advantageously, the central lifting module is adapted to function in either a right-hand orientation or a left-hand orientation.

  • Patent number: 6638190
Abstract: A derailleur utilizes a 4-bar linkage, including a housing which acts as one bar of the 4-bar linkage. A hydraulic assembly located within the housing moves the housing relative to the mounting shaft in response to hydraulic pressure to define a chain guide operating path. The derailleur device may include a detent mechanism formed on one of the three other bars. In one embodiment, the 4-bar linkage includes an input shaft rotatably attached to the housing at a one end, and an output shaft rotatably attached to the housing at the other end, and the housing rotates around the first shaft in response to the actuation force. The hydraulic assembly may include a piston which moves within a cylindrical bore, with one of the three other bars of the 4-bar linkage being attached to the piston. The resulting hydraulic derailleur design is comparable to mechanical (cable-pull type) derailleurs in size and weight.

  • Publication number: 20020051215
Abstract: A digital film processing system is provided. Each scanning module in the system has a removable mounting panel to which the scanning and transportation components are secured. An opening or door can be provided between the modules to compensate for film buckling. The film can be tensioned during scanning for control over its position. Tape can be attached to side edges of the film, and the tape can be moved through the system, avoiding contact with the film. Also, a belt transport system can be utilized to contact the film (or attached tape) only on the lateral edges. The film may be threaded through the system by using a leader attached to the lead edge of the film. To transport the film and leader, a transport mechanism having a roller connecting a pair of sprockets may be used, and a single drive unit may be provided to pull the film.

  • Patent number: 6325733
Abstract: A family of new bicycle shifting systems incorporate improved derailleur designs that are controlled by sealed hydraulic actuators. The shifting systems (i) a hydraulically-actuated, manually-powered front and rear derailleur shifting system, (ii) a hydraulically-actuated, power-assisted front and rear derailleur shifting system with manual control, and (iii) a hydraulically-actuated, power-assisted front and rear derailleur shifting system in which the shifting sequence for the rear derailleur is controlled automatically by pedal speed. Each of these shifting systems utilize a totally sealed, inclined linear shifting path. Environmental contaminants are prevented from entering any of the critical derailleur or control elements. The linear, inclined shifting path provides precise chain shifting, more uniform chain wrap on the rear bicycle drive sprockets, and lower chain and sprocket wear. Several different shifting control units are disclosed. An integrated shifting and braking module is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 4085936
Abstract: A gold club designed for use in practicing the execution of a proper swing, the club being adapted to hold a golf ball until it is released at the bottom of the swing. The gripping elements are designed to hold the golf ball against the striking face of the club and avoid interference with the natural trajectory of the ball. The ball is released when the golfer pulls on a spring-biased cable extending from a first position located adjacent the golf club grip to a second position, where the cable coacts with the golf ball gripping elements.
