  • Patent number: 7590407
Abstract: A method (300) for carrying out a security procedure with a mobile station, where a hybrid cellular telecommunication system communicates with a mobile station (301) and the hybrid cellular telecommunication system communicates with a cellular network (308). The method is characterized in that the cellular network carries out the security procedure with the mobile station, the data related to the security procedure is transferred between the cellular network and the mobile station via the hybrid cellular telecommunication system, and the decision of triggering the security procedure of the cellular network is made outside the cellular network (309). The invention also relates to a network element (510) in the hybrid cellular telecommunication system that triggers the security procedure and to a network element (500) in the cellular network that carries out the security procedure after receiving a triggering signal.

  • Patent number: 7436807
Abstract: A network for communicating with a plurality of radiotelephones via respective communication channels over timeslots on a carrier, wherein the channels can operate at a first or second data rate such that a timeslot on the carrier can transmit a single communication channel operating at the first data rate or two communication channels operating at the second data rate, the network comprising a controller responsive to a predetermined condition for initiating a change in the data rate of two channels transmitted on separate timeslots from the first data rate to the second data rate.

  • Patent number: 7342905
Abstract: A communications system includes a subnetwork connected to a network. The network has a first part and a second part, with the first and second parts being connected so that a first user can communicate with a second user. The first user is able to move within the respective part of the system. The subsystem includes a gateway for permitting communications between first and second parts. The gateway includes a register for storing information associating the first and second users, and for storing information relating to the current location of the first user so that information from the second user can be directed to the first user.

  • Patent number: 7092709
Abstract: A method of handing off a mobile station (MS B) from an internal cellular communications network to an external cellular communications network having a network controller, the method comprising: allocating at least one cell of the internal cellular network as a border cell (E); detecting the movement of said mobile station (MS B) into said border cell (E); generating an advance hand-off request in accordance with a prediction algorithm which uses a set of predetermined parameters associated with said mobile station (MS B) and determines when a hand-off is likely to be required; and responsive to said advance hand-off request setting up a communication channel in the external cellular communications network for use by said mobile station (MS B) when an actual hand-off request is made, wherein said external network and said internal network is a packet switched network.

  • Patent number: 6850778
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a gateway arrangement for receiving first and second types of traffic. The arrangement includes first and second gateways. The first gateway is arranged to separate the first and second types traffic. The first type of traffic is output to the second gateway. The second gateway is arranged to extract information from the first type of traffic and output the extracted information to the first gateway. The first gateway has an output interface arranged to output the second type of traffic dependent upon the extracted information.

  • Publication number: 20030119495
Abstract: A method (400) for controlling calls to and from a mobile station reachable via a hybrid cellular telecommunication system, where said mobile station is the first endpoint of a call, is characterized in that a set of allowed location areas is defined (402). Further, the location area of another endpoint of the call is determined (407), and decision about connecting the call via the hybrid cellular telecommunication system is made (408) based at least on the location area of said other endpoint. Arrangements (600, 610) implementing the method are also presented.
