  • Patent number: 9107194
Abstract: In an embodiment, a wireless data exchange network includes a wireless device (WD) operating under a wireless network communications protocol, a wireless access point (AP), operatively linked to the WD and a wired network, and operating under the wireless network communications protocol, and a wireless mobile device (WMD) capable of operatively linking with the WD and the AP, and operating under the network communications protocol. In another embodiment, a method for dynamically establishing a wireless data link between the WD and the AP wherein the WMD functions as a bridge there between, where the method may include determining the state of the data exchange link between the WD and the AP, selectively receiving and retransmitting data, by the WMD, from the WD to the AP and from the AP to the WD; and maintaining the wireless network communications protocol of the WMD during reception and retransmission of data between itself and the WD or the AP.

  • Patent number: 8787576
Abstract: Unauthorized wireless access points are detected by configuring authorized access points and mobile units to listen to all wireless traffic in its cell and report all detected wireless devices to a monitor. The monitor checks the reported devices against a list of authorized network devices. If the reported wireless device is not an authorized device, the monitor determines if the reported device is connected to the network. If the reported device is connected to the network and is not an authorized device, the monitor alerts the network operator or network manager of a rogue device connected to the network and attempts to locate and isolate the rogue device.

  • Patent number: 7606242
Abstract: The present invention allows any number of mobile units to roam between a large numbers of sub-networks, each with a large number of access points (tens of thousands or more total access points), with minimal direct administration effort. A hierarchy of management servers may be used across the multiple sub-networks, which can be under the control of multiple entities. The invention provides the capability for the mobile units to authenticate the access points associated with, to ensure they are both authorized and managed. Peer-to-peer and ad hoc associations between mobile units are managed as well.

  • Patent number: 7522906
Abstract: A system for enforcing configuration requirements for hardware and software on mobile units operating on Wireless Local Area Networks (WLAN). The system allows the configuration policy to change dynamically with the access point or sub-network association. Whenever a mobile unit connects to a new sub-network or access point, the system invokes and then verifies the proper configuration profile for that sub-network or access point. Thus the system ensures the configuration of the mobile unit meets the requirements for the sub-network being used.

  • Patent number: 7133526
Abstract: A system and method are disclosed that overcome deficiencies of prior art IEEE 802.11 WEP key management schemes. Preferred embodiments of the present system and method update WEP keys and rotate transmission key indices in a synchronized manner and on a frequent basis making it impractical for a hacker to gather sufficient network traffic using any one WEP key to decrypt that key and without disrupting communications. Preferred embodiments of the present system and method do not require changes in access point or mobile unit hardware, radio drivers, or firmware and are therefore compatible with existing or legacy network infrastructure or components. The disclosed system and method may be used to facilitate secure communications between one or more access points and one or more mobile units and/or groups of two or more mobile units engaging in peer-to-peer associations.

  • Patent number: 7069333
Abstract: A mobile field system comprises a service center that is connected to the office of a field service organization and number of customers of the field service organization via the Internet or another computer network. The service center is also connected to the mobile systems of technicians who work for the field service organization by a mobile communications system such as a wireless Internet service provider. One or more message queues may be used to increase the reliability of communications between the systems. By using such a queue, messages may not be lost and the communications can be made transparent to the user of the remote system.

  • Patent number: 4674608
Abstract: A hydraulic damper has a rotor (38) with vanes (36) sweeping through respective working chambers (56, 54) defined by a stator ring (12) with integral stator abutments (50). An orifice (64) is formed in each vane to permit flow past each vane which has reduced temperature dependence. Valves (66) in the vanes open at excessive torque. One stator abutment (50) is hollowed to enable overall dimensions of the damper to be reduced. In one embodiment the hollowed stator abutment receives a spool valve (70) enabling replenishment of the working chambers when at low pressure. In other embodiments the hollowed stator abutment accommodates the other torsion bar spring of a pair, so enabling the spring spacing to be reduced.

  • Patent number: 4259591
Abstract: Wheel type electronic sheet material area measuring machine has means arranged to emit a test start signal, which may be manually operated or automatically operated at a particular stage in the machine cycle, and test means actuated by the signal which cause all of the detecting means of the machine to emit a signal normally indicating presence of sheet material for a predetermined period of such a length that, in the normal operation of the machine, the signalling means of each wheel should generate at least one pulse. Should a pulse not be received from one of the wheels in the allowed time, a signal is given indicating that the machine is faulty. The invention includes means to indicate which of the arm and wheel assemblies is faulty.
