Abstract: A mobile water modifying system adapted to be readily interposed into a water pipe structure or network extending between a preconstructed facility and an external water supply is provided. The system can receive water from the water supply, modify the water, and transfer the modified water to the facility. The system includes a plurality of valved connectors to connect to the water pipe structure and control water pressure as the system is interposed into the water pipe structure or network. Different modes of water modification can be effected by incorporating different types of water modifiers in the system. These water modifications include heating water, cooling water and treating water to remove organic and non-organic contaminants. Methods also are provided for correcting an interruption in the supply of usable water to a facility and for avoiding such interruptions during repair or replacement at the facility.

Abstract: The present invention is an improved gasket for use in a wide variety of sealing applications. The gasket comprises a continuous, form-in-place gasket element, comprising layers of expanded polytetrafluoroethylene, that has significant tensile strength in both the longitudinal and the transverse directions. As such, the gasketing element of the present invention provides all of the operational advantages of PTFE, while being dimensionally stable, resistant to creep relaxation and providing form-in-place dimensions, thus satisfying a wider range of sealing applications than conventional sealing materials.

Abstract: A mobile unit positionable and drivable upon railroad tracks for applying a bead of lubricant to the gauge surfaces of the track which includes a lubricant delivery source for delivering lubricant to a pair of nozzles which are arranged in position to direct the lubricant onto the proper area of the track. The unit includes an electric/hydraulic power unit to supply pumping power to a primary lubricant delivery unit which directs the lubricant through a common flow system to the nozzles which are directed to the proper rail locations. The unit also includes lubricant filters, automatic shut off devices and automatic speed control devices for proper delivery of the lubricant to the rail surface. Heating devices are included for temperature maintenance of the lubricant under various temperature conditions.
