  • Publication number: 20090124708
Abstract: Implant compositions are disclosed consisting of a biocompatible carrier medium such as a saline or dextran solution and particles of collagenous material dispersed therein. The collagenous material is derived from tissue which has been milled to provide fragments of collagen fibres which preserve the architecture of the original fibres and their molecular structure. The collagenous material is also substantially free of non-fibrous tissue proteins, glycoproteins, cellular elements and lipids or lipid residues, and is non-cytotoxic. By suitable choice of particle size and concentration, the composition may be presented in injectable form or as a paste. The compositions are suitable for application in cosmetic and reconstruction surgery.

  • Patent number: 7083215
Abstract: A device is provided for securing a seat back to a vehicle. The device includes a base that is mounted on the floor of the vehicle. The base includes a spool that can be partitioned to create separate areas upon which the seat backs can be mounted. The device also includes a first hinge that is mounted on the outer side of the seat back. The first hinge can include a pin that is comprised of two portions. The first portion of the pin extends normal to the seat back, and the second portion of the pin extends at an angle therefrom. The device further includes a second hinge that is mounted on the inner side of the seat back. The second hinge includes a slot that is configured to cooperate with the spool of the base mounted on the floor to attach the seat back to the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 7017533
Abstract: An internal combustion reciprocation engine conjoined and integrated with a supplementary piston mechanism. The supplementary piston mechanism serves as a storage and return volume for fresh gases to be ignited during the power stroke. Thus, erasing the need for a combustion chamber at top dead center. The storage occurs during the intake or compression stroke through a small volume gaseous communication conduit to the top of supplementary piston mechanism. And is returned to the top of the main power piston during the power stroke through the same small volume gaseous communication conduit. Ignition in the power stroke occurs as the supplementary piston mechanism working in supplementation with the main power piston achieves the proper compression ratio. The high combustion pressure provided by the ignition is then transfered to the the crankshaft through the connecting rod with greater advantage late in the power stroke.

  • Publication number: 20030192491
Abstract: Efficiency almost doubles as the normally lost combustion chamber volume in an internal combustion engine, which does no work, is utilized to produce work. An internal combustion engine of positive displacement type with little fixed combustion chamber volume. A secondary cam actuates a secondary piston through a secondary cam follower. The secondary cam is driven by a timed means of gear or chain or belt from the rotation of the crankshaft. An interconnecting passage forms a gaseous communication between the primary and secondary piston. The secondary piston activated by the secondary cam stores fresh gasses in the compression cycle. The secondary piston then returns the gasses to be combusted to the volume on top of and provided by the primary piston in the power stroke. At the proper compression ratio the mixture is ignited.

  • Patent number: 6290761
Abstract: A vacuum cleaner assembly includes a main housing) having an inlet, a recess and an outlet disposed within the recess. A water bath filter is coupled to the main housing and disclosed between the inlet and the single outlet. The water bath filter is for filtering the air prior to exhausting the air outwardly through the outlet. A second filter is removably disposed adjacent said main housing single outlet within the main housing recess.

  • Publication number: 20010000196
Abstract: A vacuum cleaner assembly (10) comprising a main housing (12) having an inlet (14) and an outlet (16). A motor (17a) is disposed within the main housing (12) between the inlet (14) and the outlet (16) for providing motive force to a cooling fan (17b), a blower (17c), and a separator (22). The cooling fan (17b) is mounted within the main housing (12) above the motor (17a) to circulate cooling air around the motor (17a). The blower (17c) is mounted within the main housing (12) below the motor (17a) for drawing air into the inlet (14) and exhausting air outwardly through the outlet (16). The separator (22) is mounted below the blower (17c) for circulating the air and water bath (20) within a water bath pan (36) and providing, in combination with the water bath (20), a primary filter for filtering the air prior to exhausting the air outwardly through the outlet (16).

  • Patent number: 4061591
Abstract: A new selective adsorbent for use in affinity chromatography. This adsorbent comprises, as one part, a water soluble covalently bonded complex of an affinity ligand and a biospecific handle. The other part thereof is an insoluble matrix or solid support which has covalently immobilized on its surface an adsorbent which has specific affinity for the biospecific handle of the complex. Attachment between the complex, containing the ligand, and the support is achieved by reversible coupling between the adsorbent and the biospecific handle and, as a result thereof, the ligand is not covalently bonded to the support. In turn, substantially complete recovery of the enzyme from the column can be effected.
