  • Patent number: 9652326
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for instance migration to support rapid recovery from correlated failures are described. A failure event affecting one or more compute instances of a provider network, including a particular compute instance hosted at a first instance host, is detected based on an analysis of health status information. A determination is made as to whether a particular compute instance meets an acceptance criterion for a failure-induced migration. The acceptance criterion may be based on storage-related requests from the particular compute instance. If the particular compute instance meets the acceptance criterion, one or more configuration operations are initiated to re-launch the particular compute instance at a different instance host.

  • Publication number: 20070031231
Abstract: The gas cylinder lift is a hydraulic jack mounted on a frame and secured to a mobile cart. The jack lifts a support post, which is guided by a slot running vertically up a guide post. A bucket connected to the bottom of the support post is adapted to hold heavy welding machine gas cylinders or other similar containers. A safety chain or line secured at the top of the support post, and another safety line in the form of an elastic cable or bungee cord, along the bucket help stabilize the cylinders during transport. A safety bolt locks the support post to the guide post during transport to prevent the support post and bucket from moving. Other items, such as welding accessories, may be transported on the cart platform.

  • Publication number: 20060237234
Abstract: An earth boring tool includes two coaxially-aligned, positive displacement motors. One motor turns a pilot bit and the other turns a reamer concentric with the pilot bit. The central bit bores the center of the hole and the reamer enlarges it. The central bit is rotated relatively faster, while rotation of the larger diameter reamer is relatively slow. The tool can thus be used to bore larger diameter holes without slowing drilling rates or adversely affecting performance of the cutter elements due to higher tangential velocities.

  • Publication number: 20040060447
Abstract: Disclosed is a sorbent device that includes a and sorbent assembly containing a plurality of layered sorbent plates. Each sorbent plate has opposing sorbent surfaces formed of a layer of a sorbent material affixed to each side of a planar support sheet. The sorbent plates are layered so that each of the opposing sorbent surfaces is adjacent to one of the opposing sorbent surfaces on another of the sorbent plates and spaced apart from one another to form a channel between each pair of adjacent opposing sorbent surfaces. An inlet valve provides fluid communication between the sorbent assembly and a gas source, while a two-way outlet valve fluid communication between the sorbent assembly and a processor or a vacuum pump.

  • Patent number: 5873623
Abstract: A vehicle door drain slot plug includes a base portion having opposing sides and opposing ends, the base portion being adapted to substantially cover the drain slot. First and second snap-tabs extend from the base portion near the opposing ends on one of the sides for securing the base portion with respect to the slot. A plurality of stand-off members extend from the one side of the base portion and are spaced about the periphery of the base portion for engaging the vehicle door to create a gap between the base portion and the vehicle door in order to allow water to drain out of the slot.

  • Patent number: 5513714
Abstract: A stabilization device for a down-hole motor for use in drilling operations for example in oil-fields to control any tendency for spiralling of the tool bit during the drilling action and to permit steering by a "orientate and rotate" technique. In an example of the device, an end portion of a motor shaft (26) projects from a motor body (20), the projecting portion being comprised of an attachment apparatus or bit box (28) by which a tool bit (38) is connected for rotation. The bit box (28) may be separable from the shaft (26) or may be integrally formed therewith, but, is provided with a stabiliser means (32) in the form of part-helical vanes surrounding the bit box (28). The bit (38), when secured in the box (28), is located immediately adjacent the stabilising vanes (32) for maximum control; additionally, stabiliser vanes (22,24) may be provided on the motor body portion (20) and, if required, on the selected tool bit.
