  • Publication number: 20240060520
Abstract: Systems and methods for monitoring the location of a patient using an integrated belt and sensor for alarm for patient furniture. The belt may include at least one strap and a slider configured to be releasably attached to one another and an alarm system that is triggered when the slider is disengaged from the other strap or straps. By doing so, the amount of time it takes to remove the belt can be increased, which provides medical personnel additional time to reach a patient. Additionally, the system may include additional components to allow a patient to move side-to-side relative to the furniture or device. For instance, where the furniture is a bed, side-to-side movement is desired for added comfort. The system may include a slider enabling the belt to be adjustable for patients of any number of different sizes.

  • Patent number: 11776374
Abstract: The present invention provides an improved electronic fall monitoring system comprising a device having multiple sensor ports for flexibly monitoring various sensors associated with a single patient without requiring repeated connections and disconnections of sensors. With several sensors simultaneously connected at different locations, a processor can execute to ensure that only one sensor, corresponding to one patient, is monitored at any given time, including by triggering an alarm when a second sensor is triggered while a first sensor is in use. Accordingly, the system can provide a “one step transfer” in which a caregiver may simply press hold once to transfer a patient from one sensed area to another. In addition, the caregiver can simply actuate a single input with only a momentary press to allow suspension of monitoring for a shorter duration (hold) or a longer press to allow suspension of monitoring for a longer duration (extended hold).

  • Patent number: 11319976
Abstract: Systems and methods for monitoring the location of a patient using an integrated belt and sensor for alarm for patient furniture. The belt may include a plurality of straps configured to be releasably attached to one another and an alarm system that is triggered when at least one of the straps is disengaged from the other strap or straps. By requiring multiple straps to be released from one another, the amount of time it takes to remove the belt can be increased, which provides medical personnel additional time to reach a patient. Additionally, the system may include additional components to allow a patient to move side-to-side relative to the furniture or device. For instance, where the furniture is a bed, side-to-side movement is desired for added comfort. The system may include a slider enabling the belt to be adjustable for patients of any number of different sizes.

With several sensors simultaneously connected at different locations, a processor can execute to ensure that only one sensor, corresponding to one patient, is monitored at any given time, including by triggering an alarm when a second sensor is triggered while a first sensor is in use. In addition, operation of the device can be simplified with a single multi-color LED illuminating in different colors corresponding to different states of the system. Also, a power switch for turning the device on or off, such as for conserving power, can be placed in a recess of the device so that it is blocked when mounted, thereby avoiding being turned off when it should be monitoring.

  • Patent number: 10321854
Abstract: Systems and methods for monitoring the location of a patient using a double-release alarm belt. The belt may include a plurality of straps configured to be releasably attached to one another and an alarm system that is triggered when at least one of the straps is disengaged from the other strap or straps. One strap may be disengaged from another strap by pulling the first strap in a first direction and another strap may be disengaged from the yet another strap by pulling in a second direction. By requiring multiple straps to be released from one another, the amount of time it takes to remove the belt can be increased, which provides medical personnel additional time to reach a patient.

  • Patent number: 7091879
Abstract: The present invention relates to a system and method for simultaneously using and configuring one or more disposable transmitters. The system includes at least one single or multiple use disposable transmitter, a central station, and a receiver module. The transmitter is connected to a patient to gather and measure biomedical information. The transmitter transmits the biomedical information through the receiver module to the central station for processing, storage and display. Prior to use, each transmitter must be configured to work with the central station and the receiver module. This allows the users to configure the disposable transmitters relatively quickly and easily without needing advanced technical information. The inventive configuration also enables the operator to map a location on a monitor in the central station to a specific disposable transmitter and ultimately to a specific patient or location in the coverage area that is covered by the system.

  • Patent number: 6567680
Abstract: Disposable electro-cardiogram (ECG) transmitter device and a facilitator for proper placement of electro-cardiogram electrode nodes on a body, such as a human body. The device includes a substrate, integral non-replaceable battery and encapsulated waterproof electronics, and at least one data relay conduit integrally disposed on the substrate and capable of operative contact with a human body. Another embodiment includes a human-shaped or other anatomically shaped substrate and at least one data relay conduit integrally disposed on the human-shaped substrate and capable of operative contact with said human body. In this way, data relay conduits may be more easily and properly placed on the human body by placing the conduits at locations corresponding to their human-shaped substrate locations.
