  • Patent number: 5870788
Abstract: A portable ramp for use in allowing access for the disabled, in a wheelchair, to enter an automobile, elevated area and the like or for similar entry use by a pet. The ramp is comprised of a platform member having folding legs and a ramp hingedly attached thereto with ramp elements, each having a bevelled end for selective length placement of ramp elements on a ground surface (with other non-used elements being folded or positioned within the elements being used for the ramp). With the ramp elements being foldable into each other and the platform legs being foldable thereinto, the ramp element and platform are foldable into a readily carryable attache configuration.

  • Patent number: 5035883
Abstract: An antimicrobial composition for the treatment of non-oral and non-periodontal human disorders due to infectious microorganisms susceptible to antimicrobial treatment and wherein the composition is an aqueous or aqueous alcoholic solution of povidone iodine complex to which nascent oxygen is supplied and the resulting admixture being freshly applied to the said disorders.

  • Patent number: 4997625
Abstract: Dental and medical instruments and appliances are chemically sterilized by immersion in or subjection to a formulation or composition comprising as active antimicrobial agents a combination or admixture of an iodophor such as the povidone-iodine complex or a quaternary ammonium compound such as cetyl pyridinium chloride and a peroxide such as H.sub.2 O.sub.2, the antimicrobial action of the iodine derived from the iodophor being enhanced or potentiated by oxygen released from the peroxide. The invention is applicable also to the chemical sterilization of surgical sites. Procedure for making and using the sterilizing formulation or composition is described.

  • Patent number: 4935248
Abstract: In the technology of applying, spraying, or sponging antimicrobially effective amounts of aqueous iodophor peroxide solutions to the udder surfaces of cows, or other animals to be milked prior to milking, the present invention comprises the improvement which avoids iodides and staining which consists essentially of the step of shampooing said udders with a non-staining shampoo containing (a) from about 0.5% to 2% of iodine in a povidone-iodine complex and (b) about 0.5% to 5% of hydrogen peroxide as a nascent oxygen source, said individual components (a) and (b) being combined, with water, at the time of use and having been maintained dry and out of contact with one another in a container or receptacle.

  • Patent number: 4738840
Abstract: Pre- and post-operative dental and surgical procedures in and on structures and areas of the oral cavity are maintained sterile by the application thereto of an antimicrobially enhanced aqueous solution of an iodophor constituting a source of iodine and a peroxide as a source of oxygen, the aqueous solution ensuring sterility of the structures and areas in the oral cavity before, during and after the operating procedures therein and retarding or inhibiting microbial regrowth on and in the structures and areas in a dental or surgical environment. The iodophor is preferably a povidone iodine complex soluble in water and the peroxide is preferably hydrogen peroxide, the oxygen from the peroxide acting to enhance the antimicrobial activity of the iodine derived from the povidone iodine complex.

  • Patent number: 4592487
Abstract: Dentifrices comprising two components each of which comprises ingredients usually present in toothpastes or toothpowders, one component containing an iodophor as a source of derived iodine and the other component containing a source of active or nascent oxygen. The two components are kept out of contact with one another and separately filled into a suitable package so arranged and constructed that the components can be admixed and dispensed together to form an antimicrobial, antiplaque non-toxic dentifrice ready for use.
