  • Patent number: 5379946
Abstract: A stand alone folding bottle pack to separate and protect from injurious contact with each other the individual bottles in at least two rows of bottles standing vertically in a container, said bottle pack being manufactured in a partially or fully unfolded condition to facilitate moulding and unmoulding and stacking for packaging prior to use, and then optionally locked in the folded stand alone condition, for manual or mechanical insertion into said container, appropriately located and standing erect, ready to receive said bottles, which may then also be inserted either manually or mechanically.

  • Patent number: 5316173
Abstract: Known trays for carrying beverage cups have three or four pressure panels spaced apart around the perimeter of each cell in a manner to hold the cup upright. In the tray of this invention each cell has only two opposing pressure panels, each directed downwardly and inwardly toward the central area of the cell, and each panel having two projections on its inwardly directed face appropriately spaced apart to provide four pressure contacts around the perimeter of the contained article. The pairs of pressure contacts are thus displaced outwardly in diametrically opposite directions by the contained article, so that round, oval or rectangular shapes can be contacted by each of the four pressure contacts.

  • Patent number: 5174863
Abstract: In a precision moulding or finishing machine operating in continuous motion to form fully finished products from materials such as wood pulp, an improved system for transferring a preform into a transfer mould and thence into precision mating with a finishing mould in a pressing operation suitable for manufacturing products such as bowls, cups, pots and boxes, the preform remaining in one pair of moulds throughout the pressing operation. Transfer mould assemblies are transferred sequentially from one transporting carrier to another for fully rotatable mounting on releasable mounts guided precisely through a preferred endless travel path and orientation program. The concept of a releasably mounted and freely transferable transfer mould assembly provides for the addition of such functions as printing and labelling in the same continous production line.

  • Patent number: 4782995
Abstract: A moulded container for frangible articles comprising a tray formed with rows of cavities, a cover hinged to the tray along a hinge line, the cavities being of lesser cross section adjacent their bottom than their top whereby the outside walls of the adjacent cavities merge in hollow posts therebetween, said tray having a continous rim along its front edge, said cover having a continuous rim along its front edge, the continuous rim of the cover meeting the continuous rim of the tray when the cover is closed upon the tray, at least one of said hollow posts adjacent the front edge of the tray being a locking post, said locking post extending above the front rim of the tray and having side walls that merge with said rim of said tray, a front face that slopes rearwardly of the rim, and a catch opening formed in its front face, said lid being formed with an inwardly extending latch adapted to underlie the upper edge of said catch opening of said locking post and a support lip adapted to overlie the top of said loc

  • Patent number: 4625908
Abstract: A moulded container comprising bottom, side walls at right angles to the bottom; a top closure, said top closure comprising flaps hinged to the upper edges of opposed side walls, locking panel means adapted to overlie container contents in use and to be juxtaposed to the top closure of the container when the top closure is closed, said locking panel means having a locking panel interlock means, said flaps of said top closure having closure interlock means integrally moulded therein adapted to cooperate with the locking panel interlock means in interlocking relation when the top closure is closed whereby the top closure is retained closed and the locking panel extends across the opposed free edges of said flaps; said closure interlock means and said locking panel interlock means being accessible when in interlocked relation from the exterior of said top closure for release from interlocking relation; the locking panel interlock means having resilience to flex as the flaps are closed to permit the locking panel

  • Patent number: 4480781
Abstract: The invention relates to a moulded container of the type commonly made from wood pulp fiber and used for packaging eggs. The container has a cover with an opening through which eggs contained in cells in the tray portion can be viewed. The cells are partially defined by a series of posts and the cover has a rib that engages with the tops of the posts. The viewing opening is on either side of the rib and there is provision in the cover for resilient fingers that extend downwardly and outwardly of the rib and into the cell to engage with an egg to stabilize it in its respective cell.

  • Patent number: 4269345
Abstract: This invention relates to a moulded container which comprises at least two container portions, each consisting of a bottom wall segment and a side wall, each side wall being integrally moulded with its associated bottom wall segment and retained in an upstanding relationship with respect thereto, the bottom wall segments being interconnected to form a bottom wall of the container, each bottom wall segment being connected with respect to the remainder of said bottom wall in a manner to permit flexing of the bottom wall whereby said moulded container may be moulded with said container portions disposed in a first configuration in which said bottom wall segments are inclined with respect to one another to dispose the side walls in a position facilitating removal from a mould and subsequent nesting of the containers and thereafter said bottom wall segments may be hinged along each hinge line to a container configuration.

  • Patent number: 4195743
Abstract: The invention relates to a molded tray for packing fruit and like delicate articles. The tray has pockets and posts, the pockets and posts alternating in a plurality of rows that extend longitudinally of the tray and a plurality of rows that extend transversely of the tray whereby each post merges into four pockets except in the case of those posts which are on a row on an outside edge of a tray whereby upon stacking the pockets will rest on the top of a post of an underlying tray and the posts support the pockets of an overlying tray in use. The invention is an improvement in such a tray that comprises the provision of protuberances on the side wall of each pocket the lower extremities of which extend below the surface of their respective pocket.
