  • Patent number: 4127316
Abstract: A deformable cable clamp for use with various ribbon connectors is readily mountable on a connector end portion to conveniently clamp a cable of wires in position prior to application of a cover or hood. The provided clamp enables the wire terminations to be effected either prior to or after the cable from which the wires emanate is secured in place by the clamp. The clamp is readily engaged with the cable by a simple bending step to effect a strain-free relationship between the cable wires and connector contacts. The simplicity of the construction provided lends itself particularly well to automated assembly operations.

  • Patent number: 4090770
Abstract: A cover for a ribbon type connector having a plurality of wire-receiving channels defined by spaced barrier wall portions includes a channel-covering wall portion having projecting ribs mounted thereon. The ribs are received in the connector channels in the normal position of use and interlock with the channel wall portions by means of a tongue and groove interlock defined by projecting beads and recesses. Resilient latch portions formed at opposed end portions of the cover engage connector end portions and assist in maintaining a snug, connector cover interlocked assembly.

  • Patent number: 4040702
Abstract: A termination element for electrical connectors and method for making the same. The elements have a wire receiving portion defined by spaced-apart sides in which opposing jaws are formed. The jaws are cut and formed from the sidewalls to present a uniform angular lead-in for the wire being inserted and are spaced and coined to facilitate compression and deformation of the wire upon insertion.

  • Patent number: 3999270
Abstract: A termination tool is disclosed of the type for simultaneously forcing a plurality of wires laterally into terminals on opposite sides of a connector. Wire locating combs are provided at each side of a connector holder and include a plurality of ribs extending to progressively varying heights above a connector mounted in the holder, to facilitate selective placement of the wires by the operator.
