  • Publication number: 20250233324
Abstract: A foldable phased array antenna panel system for massive Multiple-input Multiple-output (mMIMO) radio functionality in a wireless network includes: three foldable phased array antenna panels each including a first sub-panel and a second sub-panel conductively coupled to each other via a folding structure defining a folding axis, and each of the first and second sub-panels includes multiple antenna elements. Each foldable phased array antenna panel is configured to be selectively operated in one of two modes: i) a flat panel mode, in which the first and second sub-panels are in a single flat plane; and ii) a folded panel mode, in which the first and second sub-panels are in two different planes meeting at an obtuse folding angle at a vertex defined by the folding axis. If one panel experiences outage, the remaining antenna panels extend their coverage sectors to cover the sector of the antenna panel experiencing outage.

  • Patent number: 12273177
Abstract: An aggregation unit includes a transceiver configured to transmit unique signals to a plurality of transmission reception points (TRxPs) for transmission by the plurality of TRxPs and receive uplink signals received by the plurality of TRxPs from a user equipment. The aggregation unit also includes a processor configured to generate a sum of the uplink signals from a subset of the plurality of TRxPs. The subset is determined based on measurements of the unique signals performed by the UE. In some cases, the subset is determined by a baseband unit that receives a measurement report including the measurements performed by the UE. The transceiver is configured to transmit the sum of the uplink signals to the baseband unit over a fronthaul link.

  • Publication number: 20250031067
Abstract: A method for optimizing uplink performance of Open Radio Access Network (O-RAN) system implementing O-RAN split option 7-2x-based uplink (UL) multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) operation includes: selectively utilizing non-port reduced DMRS symbols and non-port reduced DMRS measurements to mitigate performance degradation of the UL MIMO in conditions involving high mobility for a user equipment (UE) and/or high interference. The non-port reduced DMRS symbols are DMRS symbols from multiple antenna streams before digital beamforming operation, and non-port reduced DMRS measurements are measurements derived from the non-port reduced DMRS symbols. A radio unit (RU) of the O-RAN system i) extracts the non-port reduced DMRS symbols, and ii) transmits the non-port reduced DMRS measurements to a distributed unit (DU) of the O-RAN system. The DU transmits combining and/or digital beamforming matrix elements to the RU for combining and/or digital beamforming matrix application.
