Abstract: The present invention discloses methods and systems for processing data in a wireless communication network. A method embodiment includes receiving at least one electronic message having at least one attachment associated therewith; associating identifying indicia with the message according to the message characteristics; and using the identifying indicia to determine which portion of the message should be delivered to a recipient of the message. The method can also include transmitting a portion of the message, such as its text without any applicable attachments, to a wireless application of the recipient. The method may include stripping data such as an attachment from the message before sending the message to the user. In one aspect of the method, the user can determine that further processing of at least one of the stripped attachments is needed.
