  • Patent number: 4729534
Abstract: Unitary strain relief bushings for axially securing either a flat or round conduit comprised of two distinct but substantially externally similar bushing segments which are operationally hingeably folded together. Each generally "bullet shaped" bushing includes a tapered shank which extends between a narrowed front and an annular, larger diameter rear collar which is adapted to contact the workpiece. For manipulation purposes a major circumferential groove is defined in the collar, and it is adapted to be engaged by the curved tong elements of a conventional installing tool. A smaller diameter "snap fit" groove circumferentially defined upon the bushing between the shank and the annular collar shoulder is adapted to be snap fitted into the workpiece orifice.

  • Patent number: 4601624
Abstract: A two piece, resilient plastic assembly for decoratively covering the head of an installed fastener such as a screw or the like. The assembly comprises a resilient base member adapted to be held by the fastener or screw upon a planar portion of a workpiece. A resilient anchor member includes a planar, flange like base of generally circular cross section having a central orifice defined therein through which a screw or fastener passes, and an integral peripheral rim having an external surface upon which a plurality of radially spaced apart petals are integrally formed. A cup-like, resilient plastic cover plate adapted to be snap-fitted upon the anchor includes a generally convex top portion and a peripheral downwardly projecting rim. The cover plate rim includes a snap fit groove into which the anchor petals are received.

  • Patent number: 4557653
Abstract: A unitary, non-metallic captive panel screw adapted to be inserted in a suitable orifice defined in a workpiece includes a head and an outwardly projecting, multi-section shaft. A shaft spacer section has a diameter less than the diameter of the head, and extends a predetermined length from the head, terminating in a spaced-apart shoulder portion. A relief section of the shaft extends axially outwardly from the spacer section, and is substantially smaller both in diameter and length than the spacer section. A terminal threaded section having a diameter smaller than either the relief section or the spacer section is adapted to threadably receive a suitable nut whereby to secure a mechanical component in spaced relation relative to a workpiece. An integral generally frustro conical snap-fit flange section divides the terminal threaded section from the relief section, and includes a plurality of radially spaced-apart wedge shaped members extending radially outwardly from the axis of the screw.

  • Patent number: 4535925
Abstract: A semi-automatic hand-held pneumatic gun for installing plastic rivets. The gun includes a handle equipped with a manual trigger, and an associated magazine which serially feeds a plurality of stored rivets. Repetitive semi-automatic cycling of the gun is established by cooperation between a triggered air system, an intermediate pneumatic system, and a pneumatic barrel assembly. The trigger valve establishes a plurality of pneumatic pathways between it a manifold and the intermediate pneumatic system, activating first and second intermediate valves disposed within the intermediate valve pneumatic chamber. The barrel chamber includes an elongated ram and an associated piston. When the trigger valve is in a rest position, a pneumatic path is established whereby the first intermediate valve is biased to a rest position establishing another pneumatic path biasing the piston to a rest position.
