    Abstract: The present invention is directed to an isolated bacteriophage designated .phi.CPG1. The invention is further directed to an isolated DNA molecule encoding bacteriophage .phi.CPG1, or a fragment thereof, a DNA molecule comprising DNA encoding bacteriophage .phi.CPG1 with heterologous DNA inserted therein, or a fragment thereof, and to oligonucleotides consisting essentially of a portion of the DNA molecule encoding .phi.CPG1. The bacteriophage .phi.CPG1 was isolated from Chlamydia psittaci strain Guinea Pig inclusion Conjunctivitis.
