  • Patent number: 10143808
Abstract: With the subject invention, a container for an injection device with an injection needle is provided. The container includes a body having a compartment formed therein to accommodate the injection device in both a pre-use and a post-use condition. The body defines a first opening through which the injection device in its pre-use condition may be accessed, and the body defines a second opening into which the injection device may be directed in its post-use condition. A closure is provided for closing the first opening. The container also includes a retainer for retaining the injection device in the container in its post-use condition preventing access to the injection needle after the injection device has been used to administer an injection. Advantageously, the container of the subject invention provides not only a pre-use packaging for the injection device, but also a post-use sharps container for the injection device.

  • Patent number: 10124117
Abstract: A drug delivery device is provided herein which includes a tubular body defining an opening. A drug cartridge is also provided having a distal end larger in diameter than the opening. With the drug cartridge being inserted into the tubular body in a use position, the distal end of the drug cartridge is located at least partially externally of the tubular body. The medical pen injector of the subject invention further includes an adaptor engageable with the body. The adaptor encompasses the distal end of the drug cartridge with the drug cartridge being in the use position. The adaptor includes features for mounting a needle assembly thereto. Advantageously, with the subject invention, a drug cartridge having a large distal end may be accommodated with a drug delivery device, e.g., a pen injector type device.

  • Patent number: 9833577
Abstract: A medical injector is provided herein which includes first and second body portions each having a longitudinal axis and configured to couple at a coupling. The medical injector also includes an axially-displaceable plunger; biasing element for advancing the plunger a predetermined distance; and, a releasable retainer for releasably retaining the plunger in a first state against the force of the biasing element. In an initial state, the axes of the first and second body portions are not aligned and the plunger is in the first state. In a coupled state, the axes of the first and second body portions are axially aligned, and the releasable retainer releases the plunger, thereby allowing the biasing element to advance the plunger the predetermined distance. Advantageously, the subject invention provides a medical injector having an automated plunger drive which is triggered upon assembly of the pen injector, thereby minimizing premature or failed activations.

  • Patent number: 8597245
Abstract: A medical injector is provided herein which includes first and second body portions each having a longitudinal axis and configured to couple at a coupling. The first and second body portions are complementarily formed so as to be movable about the coupling. • Publication number: 20110092917
Abstract: A drug delivery device is provided herein which includes a tubular body having a proximal end and a distal end, the tubular body defining an opening at or in proximity to the distal end, the opening defining an inner diameter. A drug cartridge is also provided having a proximal end, a distal end and a barrel portion disposed therebetween. The distal end of the drug cartridge is larger in diameter than the inner diameter of the opening. The drug cartridge is inserted into the tubular body to a use position by first inserting the proximal end of the drug cartridge into the opening. The distal end of the drug cartridge limits insertion of the drug cartridge into the tubular body due to the interengagement of the distal end of the drug cartridge and the tubular body. With the drug cartridge being in the use position, the distal end of the drug cartridge is located at least partially externally of the tubular body.

  • Publication number: 20020160133
Abstract: A food pan cover for use with a food pan having a flange extending from the walls and substantially surrounding the periphery of the walls. A plurality of protuberances and depressions are formed on the underside of the flange; on the cover under and adjacent to the walls, and a plurality of dovetail members are formed on the periphery of the walls. An elastomeric seal is formed on the protuberances, and depressions and dovetails of a polyurethane having a usable temperature after molding of 212° fahrenheit and a hardness of 60 to 120 shore A, with a plurality of ribs, and terminates in a downwardly curved projection defining a groove around the periphery of the seal.

  • Patent number: 5947285
Abstract: A medical waste disposal system for contaminated products to be disposed having a hollow, disposal container and a housing enclosure which is engageable with and covers the container. The housing enclosure has an opening and a tumbler which is pivotally mounted to prevent access to the interior of the housing enclosure when a contaminated product is being deposited into the interior of the disposal container. In one embodiment, upon dropping waste into the opening of the housing enclosure, the tumbler rotates to simultaneously close the upper opening in the housing enclosure and open a lower opening which allows the waste to drop into the disposal container. After the waste has dropped, the tumbler, which is weighted, returns to its original position. When the disposal container reaches full capacity, the tumbler is blocked by the medical waste in the disposal container thereby preventing rotation to the open position.

  • Patent number: 5918762
Abstract: A secure installing system for mounting a container on a frame member, with ease of access to the container. The installing system is appropriate for use in a medical environment such as a hospital. The frame member may be a shelf bracket, or a cabinet for housing a medical waste container, and may be mounted to a wall. A container such as a glove box holder is installed on the frame member. The container may have a dispenser opening providing ready access to materials such as tissues or surgical gloves. The container is securely mounted to the frame member using a hook and snap arrangement and may be disengaged from the frame member in order to exchange stored materials such as tissues or surgical gloves. The hook and snap arrangement protect against accidental dislodging of the container from the frame member, thereby preventing possible contamination of stored materials. Frame members that are shelf brackets may support two containers each.
