Patent number: 10003407Abstract: An efficient coding and modulation system for transmission of digital data over plastic optical fibers with low latency. In particular, the digital signal is coded by means of a two-level coset coding. The first level applies to the digital data a binary shortened BCH coding and performs coset partitioning by means of constellation mapping and lattice transformations. The second level is uncoded but undergoes mapping and lattice transformation. After an addition of the two levels, a second-stage lattice transformation is performed so as to obtain a zero-mean constellation. The symbols output from such three-level coset coder are then further modulated.Type: GrantFiled: January 13, 2016Date of Patent: June 19, 2018Assignee: Knowledge Development for POF, S.L.Inventors: Ruben Perez De Aranda Alonso, David Ortiz, Dunia Prieto

Patent number: 9094151Abstract: The present invention relates to transmission and reception of data over a plastic optical fiber. In particular, the present invention provides for transmission and reception over the plastic optical fiber a particularly suitable frame structure. The frame structure includes a synchronization sequence and portions of user data alternating with alternating reference signal portions and control data portions. The length of the user data portions may be equal, the length of the synchronization sequence and the control data and reference signal portions may also be equal. The distances between the synchronization sequence and the reference signal portions and the control data portions are advantageously equal. The alternating of data and additional information avoids data decoding latency while maintaining the rate necessary for the additional information.Type: GrantFiled: April 4, 2013Date of Patent: July 28, 2015Assignee: Knowledge Development For POF, S.L.Inventors: Rúben Pérez De Aranda Alonso, Pedro Reviriego Vasallo, Dunia Prieto Francia, David Ortiz Rojo

Patent number: 8634450Abstract: An efficient coding and modulation system for transmission of digital data over plastic optical fibers is disclosed. The digital signal is coded by a three-level coset coding. The spectral efficiency of the system is configurable by selecting the number of bits to be processed in each of the levels. The first level applies to the digital data a binary BCH coding and performs coset partitioning by constellation mapping and lattice transformations. Similarly, second level applies another binary BCH coding, which may be performed selectably in accordance with the desired configuration by two BCH codes with substantially the same coding rate, operating on codewords of different sizes. The third level is uncoded. The second and third levels undergo mapping and lattice transformation. After an addition of the levels, a second-stage lattice transformation is performed to obtain a zero-mean constellation. The symbols output from such three-level coset coder are then further modulated.Type: GrantFiled: March 2, 2012Date of Patent: January 21, 2014Assignee: Knowledge Development for POF, S.L.Inventors: Carlos Pardo Vidal, Rúben Pérez de Aranda Alonso

Publication number: 20090285271Abstract: A system for Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) data communications, and therefore the transceiver that contains the transmitter and the receiver implementing such system, based on Single Carrier Modulation (SCM). The invention includes an efficient vectoring structure that provides novel solution for crosstalk (505 and 506) elimination in SCM systems, which allows the cooperative operation at the transmitter (511) side as well as at the receiver (512) side. The present invention also includes a preamble insertion in a specific location of the transmission path, which makes possible the synchronization, direct channel response (503 and 504) estimation, crosstalk channel responses estimation and noise (507 and 508) estimation in agile manner, to make a continuous tracking of the changes of the channel (503 to 506) and the noise environment (505 to 508). It allows operation with low noise margin.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 13, 2009Publication date: November 19, 2009Applicant: SIDSA (SEMICONDUCTORES INVESTIGACION Y DISENO,S.A.Inventors: Ruben PEREZ DE ARANDA ALONSO, Sandra BAREA CASTILLO, Carlos PRIETO DEL AMO, Jose Maria INSENSER

Publication number: 20090116577Abstract: The invention relates to a method and system for multiple input and multiple output channel estimation, which can be used to generate and correlate sets of complementary sequences of length N, having a number of elements K greater than or equal to two. According to the invention, a block is used to generate sequences and to convolve same with an input signal, after which they are sent directly, or modulated, to the transmission channel. Once they have been received, and optionally demodulated, they pass through a correlator filter such as to obtain the input signal convolved by the channel, having a noise level reduced by factor KN.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 14, 2009Publication date: May 7, 2009Inventors: Jose Maria Insenser Farre, Daniel Hernanz Chiloeches, Ruben Perez De Aranda Alonso, Carlos Parco Vidal
